Dog gets all!

I posted about a multi-millionaire who left nothing to his children and I remember seeing this story a while ago with thinking how indifferent people can be sometimes...
Here is the story of a dog who received $12 million in will.

Leona Helmsley's dog will continue to live an opulent life, and then be buried alongside her in a mausoleum.

Helmsley left her beloved white Maltese, named Trouble, a $12 million trust fund, according to her will two of Helmsley's grandchildren got zilch from the late luxury hotelier and real estate billionaire's estate.

She also left millions for her brother, Alvin Rosenthal, who was named to care for Trouble in her absence, and two of four grandchildren from her late son Jay Panzirer.
If those two grandchildren don't visit their father's grave site at least once a year, she wrote, they will lose half of the $10 million she left for each of them.

Helmsley left nothing to two of Jay Panzirer's other children _ Craig and Meegan Panzirer _ for "reasons that are known to them," she wrote.

But no one made out better than Trouble, who once appeared in ads for the Helmsley Hotels, and lived up to her name by biting a housekeeper.
"I direct that when my dog, Trouble, dies, her remains shall be buried next to my remains in the Helmsley mausoleum," Helmsley wrote in her will.

The mausoleum, she ordered, must be "washed or steam-cleaned at least once a year." She left behind $3 million for the upkeep of her final resting place in Westchester County, where she is buried with her husband, Harry Helmsley.
She also left her chauffeur, Nicholas Celea, $100,000.

She ordered that cash from sales of the Helmsley's residences and belongings, reported to be worth billions, be sold and that the money be given to the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Her longtime spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, had no comment.

Helmsley died earlier this month at her Connecticut home. She became known as a symbol of 1980s greed and earned the nickname "the Queen of Mean" after her 1988 indictment and subsequent conviction for tax evasion. One employee had quoted her as snarling, "Only the little people pay taxes."

Isn't this just so amazing?

My exact thought,Lips...
I felt rather sad for her than applaud her decision.
Not only because it's useless but imagining how many people would look at the situation as a opportunity to take advantage of this dog.
If she didn't want to give to her blood she could at least  think of donating to less fortunate.
I too dislike wills...yes it is somewhat important in a such level as a security aspect for the remainder of the children and the family members but most of the cases have resolved in a negative ways.

In this case, I saw the family members have been fighting over the money with claiming that they don't want to give not even a penny to the dog...
Money.........like my momma always says is the devil.

She must have felt that the dog was the only one that loved her. She left money for upkeep. She obviously knew no one would be there.

I had to read that twice to grasp the meanness of this woman. She sounded like a real piece of work. Nasty right to the end.

Leaving such a fortune to a dog is stupid beyond belief, it's like leaving money to a tree in the park or a squirrel on the roof. I understand that maybe she disliked her relatives but she could have given the money to charity and not to a friggin' dog!

I agree totally Johnny.  What a waste - you could never spend that kind of dough on a dog in it's lifetime.  A worthwhile charity would have been so much better but I guess she never understood the need for charities as she would never have needed to use one.
