Fairs and the Cadillac Blues

Hi LCB family,

Summer time....and the living is easy....and so i went to the fair! Over the past weekend i went to the county fair. I love to go and try to hit at least 2 in the every summer.

Roaming around the grounds on display is blue ribbon winners...everything from best pig....best pies...to best homemade jams. The aroma of the grills...with hotdogs cookin...burgers sizzling....and people walking around with bloomin onions! My favorite has to be the corn on the cob...picked fresh from the cornfields...dipped in butter! Corn so sweet....ya would think it was rolled in sugar.

The main attraction for me is the demolition derby. The first time i ever saw one was a few yrs ago and i have been hooked ever since! We always pick our fav car and yell and scream in the stands for our car to win!

The announcer told an amazing true story about one of the drivers. Right before the start of the race a man came up and wanted a late entry into the race. The announcer sorry....but your too late. As the man pointed to his car he said please ya just have to make an exception and let me enter my cadillac in the race. The announcer looked up and saw a brand new caddy!

The announcer thinking he was off his rocker said..."why would you want to demolish a brand new caddy"? The man grinned and said its his dream to be in this race. Thinking about it for a moment the announcer decided to make an exception and allowed him a late entry.

As the race started there was not a driver who was not anxious to destroy this brand spankin new car..and they did! The crowd was in shock and awe as they watched every driver plowing into him. When the race finished..his caddy was completely totalled.

The man was thrilled when the race was over and saw his car destroyed. The announcer asked him one more time..."why did you want to do this to such a beautiful car"? The man looked at him with a great big smile and said..my divorce was finalized yesterday. The judge told me i had to give my wife the cadillac in the divorce settlement and i had to deliver to her no later than this weekend. The judge never told me what kind of condition the car had to be in...and tomorrow i will drop the car off right at her door!!

A true story...can you imagine the wife's face when she looked out the window?

So, this is likely a true story.

  After I read this story, I got this little smirk on my face.
