I was five. I sang this song all day everyday for at least a month (or it seemed like it to my parents!). I was determined to get a hippopotamus for Christmas.

On Christmas day, I was so happy!!!! My parents had searched all over (not easy to find a hippo back then) and the Fuller Brush Man found them one. It was a little stuffed hippo and it had a wind up key and played a song. Not this song; don't remember what it did play but I loved it so much.

I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas This version has the lyrics.
