  • Whether it's a scary movie (I loved Insidious btw) or an amusement park; we love to be scared.
I have a season pass for my family for Six Flags.
Even though I am past the roller coaster stage in life, I find the water rides to be the best!

"Cedar Point and Kings Island in Ohio, and Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., all are rolling out a thrill ride called Windseeker, which spins riders nearly 30 stories in the air in two-person swings that flare out and rotate around a tower.

An extremely wet April in Ohio delayed work on the ride at Cedar Point in Sandusky and Kings Island in Mason, so they weren't ready when the parks opened earlier in May, but they're expected to be up and running around Memorial Day.

Six Flags parks in Vallejo, Calif., and St. Louis also are debuting monster swings. Their version, called SkyScreamer, towers 236 feet above the ground with two-person swings soaring in a 98-foot circle at 43 mph. The ride will be lighted at night from top to bottom.

And Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., added a swing ride called Barnstormer, with two pendulum arms seating 16 passengers each. The swing takes riders to a peak of 81 feet in the air and rotates at 45 mph. A barnyard-themed play area and pig pen water play area surround the ride."

Do you love amusement parks, which ones are your favorite?

  • I don't like those things to be honest, in my view paying for fear just doesn't make sense smiley

  • Agreed with Johnny fear will never bring you the money. But it will just make you lose.

  • I love thrill rides! Six Flags was the best back home. Iron Wolf, Shockwave, The Demon and Batman were awesome rides.

Btw, I loved Insidious too nan.

  • I think part of the excitement is the anticipated risk of sheer pandemonium! Sorta like the gambler in us that loves the game of risk!

My fav rides are def the roller coasters. The taller, the steeper and the fastest is what i love. Ya get get those somersaults going on in your tummy and it is pure thrillssssssss!

  •             I've seen monster swings like that at the state fairs in FL  and all I can say is "There ain't enough beer in the world!"

  • The next generation of kids need to be more and more scared.
I remember when a simple book like "the Headless Horseman" would make me sleep with the lights on.
We will get to a point when nothing will be scary, people won't be shocked by anything because we will have seen it all.

  • Interesting....although I don't find amusement park rides to be scary. I love going to Kings Dominion and Bucsh Gardens (both less than a 30 min drive from my house) and I don't find a single thing frightening about them... especially the rides your talking about...I love those the most because you get the most amazing view and on hot summer days that breeze up there feels wonderful!
