The ole saying, if it weren't for bad luck I'd have none at all....well, that's my life story. So many losses I've endured over the past 8 years and then a big one this past Friday. My house burned to the ground. My hubby & I weren't home and our dogs were not in the house thankfully. There was is nothing left of the structure and the fire dept says determining the cause will likely be impossible but it is leading to electrical in our dining room/family room area. I had an old laptop stored in our motorhome just for emergencies...that is my temporary lifeline to the world for now after getting phone/internet hooked up in our motorhome, where we'll be living for many months. Won't be doing any gambling for awhile, at least, not online, so wanted to say a temporary 'so long' to my pals here. I'll peek in from time to time when I can.
Be safe out there friends.

Hey ya'll. Thought I'd stop by to say howdy and provide a little update to our house fire situation which occured April 6th. We are still waiting for our insurance company to provide us with a dollar amount for our loss. In the meantime we are living on our property in our 38' motorhome which is cozy but not unbearable. I'm already very tired of "camping" however. We have been looking into the possibilty of rebuilding but things aren't looking so positive for that to happen anytime within the next 12 months because of the poor market values in our area and the amount of equity we no longer have to put towards construction costs. However, we'll be patient and see how things work out over the next few months.
I wanted to share a special thing that happened on the day of the fire. When I drove up to our house and saw all the firetrucks, patrol cars, firefighters, smoke etc...I was completely devastated. I remember parking my truck at the end of the long driveway and running towards the house, screaming "Oh My God"....and calling for my German Shepherd because he always slept on the porch. I didn't see him anywhere. The Batallion Chief came over to me, gently grabbed me and held onto me as I kept sobbing and asking about my dog. He said, "you mean that big ole playful German Shepherd?" I replied, "YES...is he ok?" He went on to tell me that our dog was being distracted back behind the burning structure by a couple of volunteer firefighters because he wold not stay out of the stream of water coming from the fire hoses, which was causing the guys some hassles putting fire onto what was left of the structure. I think he thought the firefighters were there just to play with him. He had the BEST dog day ever.
I eventually found my boy and gave him the longest, hardest hug I've ever given him. The fire captain on duty that day came over to me several minutes later tp provide comfort and offer condolences. He also wanted to share something with me that he said would put a smile on my face in the midst of our horrible day. He had taken some video of my boy "playing" with the firefighters while they were trying to fight the fire. It brought such a huge smile to me when I viewed it...and it still does. The captain eventually emailed the video to me and I just uploaded it to youtube.

In addition, the neighbor who called in the fire, emailed us some photos of the house on fire, thought I'd share one of those as well. We're doing ok for now, have had several obstacles in the past few weeks..and a bit of tension between hubby & I but we are doing our best to remain optimistic that things will work out somehow.
Tomorrow night my hubby is taking me to our local casino to spend the night...(we have a free room and dinner) and we are SO looking forward to a nice, long hot shower in a nice big bathroom! I think I am looking forward to that more than gamblingFor those that have never spent any amount of time in an RV...ummmm...tiny bathrooms and you need to make those showers short & sweet! Take care friends...and I hope all is well with you.

So nice to hear from you hymacaw. I'm glad you are doing ok (well as ok as you can being in a motorhome).
Loved the video of your dog and the water; he was certainly having a great time.
How heartbreaking to see the picture of your house on fire and the final devastation afterwards.
I hope the insurance works out ok for you and you are able to re-build as soon as possible.
Enjoy your trip to the casino and your long hot shower. I hope you have some luck at the slots or tables (whichever you play).
All the best to you.

Oh hymacaw I don't know whether to laugh or cry... your wonderful pup looked so confused when the water stopped and it did not seem to bother him a bit when that fireman kept telling him to get out of there! Enjoy your showers! I am sure you will take more than one, just because you can!

Even on some of the most toughest days dogs can bring a smile to our face. One of the most precious and touching videos that i am sure you will treasure forever. The pictures of the fire are only a glimpse of the devastation you had to feel. I am glad you have a motor home and something you can call your own until things get back to normal.
I so happy you stopped by and kept in touch. Keep the faith, positive attitude and win a bundle at the casino!
