I am not Irish, but I have always loved the Irish, I had my St Patrick's Day Celebration, my grandchild's birthday will be tomorrow, and I had them watch the History Channel tonight, the Irish have been thru a lot, and I can relate to that. Yes, I am a women of color, I am not black but I am brown, but I have seen a lot. The Irish went thru a lot of turmoil and they were treated harshly. President Andrew Jackson was of Irish ancestory, also, the gentleman who published the Bill of Rights thru his business printing shop was of Irish ancestry, Irish made up 1/3 of the soldiers in America who fought bravely against the British. I love history and culture but I dont like the harshness that the people had to go thru, I cried but I feel a kinship spirit with the Irish. There is so much to learn, but the country is so beautiful. A clerk at the local grocery store, who is Irish told me the reason why they have the doors painted different colors is because the men would know what home they belonged to, that was interesting, and also the reason of the color of the flag is because the war with the Catholics, and the Protestants, a bloody war. If you get a chance you should really check out the history of the Irish. The Kennedys are Irish, I am sure we all know that and my prayers go out to Teddy Kennedy, may you rest in peace and the luck of the Irish be with all of you here at LCB!
