Hi Gang:
The other day I misplaced my car keys. I mean I looked everywhere, and could not locate them. Luckily a friend had another set for me, as I still have not located the original set.
Have you ever misplaced something and it simply is never to be found again? Keys? Jewelry? Paperwork? The list is endless.

Where do i begin.......i seriously think i have a problem with this. Since i was a kid i lost everything you can imagine. As i grew up it has not got much better.
One of the classic things i do and i think its the reason why i lose things.....
I will for example put the paper plate in the sink and put the fork in the garbage. I have been through so much silverware you wouldn't even believe it. I am a pro at putting milk in the cabinet and crackers in the fridge.
My only excuse is i tend to have about 100 thoughts racing in my mind all the time. Hmmm that did seem like an excuse huh..........lmaooo!!

The worst thing i found myself doing when my mind was in a frenzy was.. i with one hand put the lighter to my lips lit it, was holding the cigarette in its position away from my lips (reversed the positioning) i said ooops realizing it reversed it to the right position, but everyone saw me..
it was embarressing they were laughing... lol

Oh oh oh girl!!! I have put the lighter to my lips thinking it was the ciggy and tried to lite the ciggy as the lighter!
I have picked up jars on the table thinking it was my drink and started to drink from olive jars, yahtzee cups...etc.
Or this one drives me crazy.....i will look for something for a half hour...finally find it....lay it down relieved i have found it. Come back to it ten minutes later........and forget where i put it........and have to search all over again!!!!!!!!
This just can't be normal behavior.

I tell you something that is almost as bad. I have to know where EVERYTHING is in my house. If anything at all is unaccounted for, I will literally tear my house apart until I find it. I'm not talking about major things here, but all items, this includes twist ties, hair pretties, every single bit of change, my husbands lighters, my son's lego (I know exactly how many pieces he should have) batteries. My daugther (who is autistic) is a mouther and once swallowed a hair barette. So off we go in the ambulance to the hospitial to surgically remove it. I have been a mess ever since. It is so bad for me that I put all the tiny objects that we are going to throw away into a ziplock so I can check it over and over to make sure it is there, and when I am satified, I take it outside to the garbage and check it again before I throw it away. I cannot tell you how many times I have dug through the trash to make sure the twist tie I threw away was in there.

wmmeden.. when my daughter was little.. legos or marbles were not allowed in my house, i had a very great fear of what you just described, anything with small parts that she could get her hands on were not available to her, including doritos chips because i once saw a child choking on them just put a fear in me... i went through that not as bad, but about as bad.

Err um well, I lost my glasses once and walked around looking for them for a couple of minutes before I realized I was wearing them......all together now, DUHHHHHH!
Back in the late 70's when I was wayyyy younger,( the stoner years) I was with some friends and we had been drinking a bit and smoking wacky tobacky and I did the lips poked out about ready to light them like a cigarette thing, when my friend who was as goofy, saw what I was about to do and said,"hey, don't do that".When I realized what I had almost done we just laughed for about 10 minutes. Ahhh youth.

Lips and Imagin. You have described my sister to a tee.
She is exactly the same and since a child has "lost" things all the time and does to this day. She loses her car keys all the time and if she goes out, god help us. She is a walking disaster bless her. But like you guys she has a 1000 things racing through her brain. She is truly a diamond.

I can only imagine your anguish as your daughter was rushed to the hospital. It instills fear in us and can makes us even more protective. The worry and fear you have has got to have taken a toll on you. Your obviously a very good mom. Sometimes just finding the humor in ourselves helps!!!

I lost a beautiful emerald ring. When i tell how your gonna be sick. I was cleaning off the kitchen table after cooking. I had laid my ring on the table as to not get dough in it. I scooped the crumbs in one hand and put my ring in the other.
i have lost a goldring which i have gotten from my father before he dies.
i didnt find this ring again. I was very sad about the loose.
Not til the next day did i realize i had thrown the ring in the garbage and the crumbs on the sink!! I ran to the garbage to get it and the garbage man had already come. Ohhh i could tell ya stories.

Thank you for your kind words, Lips. My daughter is 9 and I had hoped she would have outgrown this by now. I have calmed down quite a bit. I think it is just because she can't talk and I wouldn't know if she had swallowed something. You gotta find the humor, though. You are absolutely right about that.
