    in the meantime I would be having my resident Molecular Biologist working on cloning a reproductively viable strain so such simple beauty is never again lost to the world.

    The ramifications of having just a single flower left, the culture that could have so decimated the world that 75% of all plant life has been destroyed, the biosphere where the huge extinction's in everything from the insect world on up the food chain right to the top would be so incredibly devastating I would venture that close to 50% of the world population of all existing species would have been wiped out to have gotten to such dire straits...

    No... by the time we had only one left... giving it to any one person would be a final fatalistic Hubris that would likely be the harbinger of our own species ultimate demise.

    Hmmmm, maybe that was not romantic enough.
