  • The word "Beer" to me conjures up many images. Hot days, ball games, or a tall cold one after a hard days work.  From what I have been reading and hearing it is now going to cost more for all those things. I really do not know the scoop on this but would like too.
Whats all this talk about increasing the beer tax? What do you hear? What are your views? Is it state to State, or city by city?  When will this tax madness ever end?  :-\                                                                                PMM2008

  • OMG!!! First...they made it harder for me to buy cigarettes and now THIS??!!! I think I'm going to move to a different country! Seriously!! >:( >:( >:(

  • I think they are taxing everything to make up for everything else! It is really getting out of hand!!!!! I guess they need some way to fund all of their programs (healthcare, welfare etc). Why don't they put a bigger tax on liquor????? Oops....not a chance because a higher tax on liquor would impact all the BIG BOYS in Washington. Trust me guys...I lived there for 5 years...my roommate worked for the Senate and all those guys do is drink....at lunch, at dinner and some of them even have bars in their offices!
Ridiculous!!!!! Higher prices, Higher taxes, where will the madness end?????? Whenever we have been taxed enough and stand up to the forces that be! Watch out.....interest rates are also headed back up to double digits...watch and see. Frankly, I am sick and tired of funding everyone elses mistakes! I am sick of paying for healthcare for non-citizens of this country who are illegally in this country and I am sick and tired of taking care of everyone else!!!! We are just being sucked dry and there is no way to stop it! What are they going to tax next? Air????????????? Ok, I will get off of my soapbox now!

  • This article was from March 9, 2009!

Smart money is betting that Congress will repeal the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) this year, or at least soon.

Barney Frank (D-MA), chairman of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, plans to bring back legislation to repeal the UIGEA this month. Rep. Frank maintains that online gambling is a fundamental freedom, and that attempts to make it illegal smack of Prohibition in the 1920s and 1930s.

In addition, much of the political momentum for repeal of the act is coming from online poker players who are fighting back.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) estimates that the amount the US could raise from regulating and taxing Internet gambling is about 22% higher than it was in 2007—because US online gambling has grown despite the ban.

In fact, comScore Media Metrix found that as of last November, online gambling was the ninth-fastest-growing category online.

Hopefully a good change is coming!!!

Instead of increased Beer Tax, they need to just repeal the UIGEA!!!!
