Uh, most of the text is russian. But apparently something is going on over there with things falling from the sky.
I've seen meteorites, tiny ones glowing green streaking across the night sky, but THIS is huge and bright in the middle of the day!
Anyone hear about this or can translate? Will it be on the news tomorrow? Is it real? -

Cant read Russian, but it looks to me like a falling space debris or even a small meteorite.
A meteorite will be a big hazard and dangerous too due to its radioactive nature.
Lets hope no one gets hurt there.
If they are saying that hole in the ground was caused by a mteorite...I dont agree. Meteorites would explode upon contact with the ground and leave a big crater. A space debris? Probably, but not with a hole like that. It's too rounded...more like what an UNARMED missile head would do! -

my first impression was maybe this video was fake, but then i just did a search in good old google
and this came up straight away, this is a news website, so i hope it is ok to post this link
if not mods just remove it
http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013/02/15/russia-meteorite.html
but there is rumours there is a meteor due to pass earth today too, it is said it is to be the size of 4 double decker buses, and will be traveling at a speed of about 5 miles a second.
but it does pass earth, it is said it will happen at around 7:30 pm UK time that is BST at the moment, because clocks changed a while ago so we not in GMT at the moment
but maybe this was something to do with this other one that is meant to pass earth today, maybe it broke of the bigger meteor somehow??
its scary thought though, but we cant do nothing about it if it did hit us lol o well
oh and now i just found this link to confirm what i said about it passing by earth today

It did look as if that thing was headed straight at the car's windshield there for a second or too, right? I got to see about 2 seconds of a smoke-filled
ded area and heard "Russia" on the news, then they went to the 2012 DA 14 talk and went to commercial. I didn't get if it was a coincidence that the two events are happening, or what. I don't think it was a chunk of the big flying rock but that would be a hell of a drive-by from outer space!
Thanks for the info, now I need to view the news links posted. I would almost bet SyFy Channel is having meteor/meteorite/comet/it came from space disaster movies on all day today. But they are probably doing bigfoot and ghosts and total dark scary stuff instead. -

Thank god it was a small meteorite! A big one would have wiped out the entire town. It was reported that it probably exploded at about 10,000ft above ground - again a relief for the neighborhood - at ground level would be like a small atom bomb exploding!
Strangely enough, it was reported too that the surrounding atmospheric radioactive content was unchanged?! Most unlikely!!! More like hiding the truth so as not to cause widespread panic, IMO. All those injured should be checked for radioactive exposure - traces of that are likely to be found on some unlucky ones. And I dread to think that all the radioactivity from the exploded meteorite, which is currently high up in the air, start coming down to the ground! Another Chernobyl effect is probable, albeit at a much smaller scale.

It is so awful to hear that thousands were injured, but so amazing to hear that the crater and crash site are actually in a frozen lake. I've been chasing the channels trying to find some good coverage but I keep getting in on the very end, or at a teaser before commercials. There are so many videos that were taken. I can't imagine the panic in the streets seeing something like that hurling down from the sky.
It's NOT a movie, folks, though it looks quite surreal. -
