    In the U.S. I worked in credit/debit card fraud for a few years. I've never had my card compromised in any way.....until now. No money was stolen but I had to have my card replaced.

    I still have my U.S. bank accounts and they say they've been seeing fraud from a merchant called QS Companies out of Virginia. The transaction comes through like an online purchase with a common dollar amount of $20.01. There was an attempt to use my card there on Easter. Not cool.

    There's a first time for everything  laugh_out_loud

    I'm glad that there was no major damage at least. This never happened to me but I guess I'll have to be prepared for that first time smiley

    Froggy had the same thing happen to me from a company in Virginia too surprise.Someone got my debit card info and used the info twice online.Luckily I caught it right away and the bank put the money back into my account.

    My card was being declined at a couple places so I called the bank. That's when they told me that they had blocked the card due to a suspicious purchase.

    There really aren't any protections anywhere unfortunately but they do use a different chip and pin technology in most countries now accept the U.S. There's no more signing, you must enter a PIN for every purchase and there is a chip embedded in the card. The PIN must match what is coded within the chip making the information harder to steal and your card more difficult to counterfeit.

    When I use my card here, they have to search for a pen for me to sign. I started carrying my own. I'll eventually open an account here. Not quite ready to let go...

    Sorry to hear of the attempted "robbery" Froggy.  I don't think these people realise how unsettling things like this are.  Glad all is ok though.
