Hiya Guys and Dolls,Today is Fat Tuesday! The day before lent and 40 days of giving something up! Usually practiced by Catholics. Did you know that Mardi Gras translated means the same thing? So for today no matter what your religion or beliefs celebrate and eat eat eat!! Also drink, drink, drink!! Let your inhibitions go. It is the one day it's ok.........really!I am still trying to decide what to give up for lent........... Maybe sugar..........oh my not sure if i can!Lips

Here in the UK, its Pancake Day also known as Shrove Tuesday.

Shrove is from the word shriven which means to be released from your sins. Falling the day before Ash Wednesday, Shrove Tuesday was the last day for Christians to make confession and absolution.

May all your pancakes be super thin with tons of lemon and sugar! It's making me drool thinking about it but sadly, there will be no pancake tossing in my house tonight.

Giving up sugar for 40 days is a big ask Lips - I hope you succeed if you decide to give it up for the 40 days.

There is one thing of many, that I can never give up is Salt!
I won't be able to live without it not even two days but sugar,yes I could.

Lent is always a hard time for me. Maybe I should give up casinoing (HA HA). I haven't really given it too much thought, but maybe I'll try to pray the rosary throughout the weeks of Lent. I think reflection is something I need to work on. Time for prayer and positive thinking.

Yeah, the kids and I do the Fat (Shrove) Tuesday and Ash Wednesday yearly ritual. We find it very meaningful.

I should give up Diet Coke but..... I won't/can't/don't wanna.

Since I was ticked at a casino taking my tournament entry, I haven't spent a dime. Was thinking about caving a making a deposit today but havent' yet. Saw this thread and you know what? I'm NOT depositing. Hope I can hang on til Easter.
