  • Anyone have any opinions or answers as far as  June 1st?

  • Hiya Cat,

I had to really think a minute with what ya meant by that date and it hit me!! Here is a piece of what i read:

On Thursday, the Senate reached an important decision regarding their proposed reform bill. Senator Scott Brown joined two other Republican senators and fifty-seven Democratic senators in passing a cloture motion Thursday afternoon. The motion limits the amount of debate over the reform bill to only an additional thirty hours, and sets up a vote on the legislation later this week or early next week.

If the Senate bill passes, it would go back to the House for reconciliation with a House bill that was passed in December. Once that process is complete, the reform legislation would be signed by President Obama, presumably by July 4th.

If all goes well with the financial reform package, Rep. Frank would then re-energize his efforts to create online gambling reform in the US. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was created in 2006, and is set to take affect on June 1st.

It will be one hell of a July 4th if it passes that's for sure!! I think it will pass and some casinos are optimistic that it will and have already prepared themselves in the event it does happen.

  • Aha Thanks Lips, i had on my thinking cap too! I haven't been paying attention on the date this is going to happen, BUT i have noticed that some casinos have said they will not offer bonuses to USA players. I seriously think that will change as well in time, some are optimistic getting ready for us. I wonder if they themselves anticpate it?

It is exciting news coming up, i hope it will pass

  • They won't offer US bonuses??? And what would make them come to that decision? I think when the casinos realize we won't play there, they might change their mind.

I think that would be a grave error on any casinos part considering that the US makes up a good chunk of the gambling dollars!

  • Yeah and remember.  If this passes, taxes will be involved.  Not a good thing in my opinion.  I like it how it is now.

  • You have a point meds. The thing is we have to weigh what is more important....restrictions in playing at any casino or paying taxes. And although technically the law states its the banks who would be in trouble not the player, there is still an element of fear.

If there was ever a tax audit or as some members have said in the past, a bank is going over your finances and wants to know where big chunk of change came from it can be worrisome.

Paying taxes would suck, but it would allow us our freedom to gamble when and where we want.

  • How many will gladly pay the taxes and keep right on gambling? I'd say this will be high percentages.

Yup.  Like that big RJ you won.  Who wants to explain it to the IRS?  And casinos probably will be made to report winnings like regular casinos do here in the US.  Would suck if you ask me.

  • To continue playing online.... I will pay taxes on my winnings like I do @ Foxwoods

  • No taxes.  Keep it AS IS.
