Man Leaves Mom in the Car at Casino

A 67-year-old man, Dwight McGinnis Jr., arrived at Maryland Live! Casino and left his 98-year-old mother in the truck for 5 hours in 81 degree heat. She required the use of a wheelchair and was left there for 5 hours with no food or water an incapable of caring for herself. It wasn't until someone called 911 that police called the man and he returned to the car. He's facing charges of vulnerable adult neglect.

On a lighter note there is no way my mom would allow me to leave her in the car at the casino whether she was 98 or 108. She'd have to get at those games! Is there a member of your family that  loves to gamble and would not stand for waiting in the car?

            Yes,  my mom.  She loves her some video poker.  Rather good at it too, I might add.    I'm glad the woman was okay  I can only imagine her calling  "Dwight, Dwight,  where'd that sorry ass son of mine run off to now?"  I'm sure after about 20 minutes her language got pretty colorful.    Can't believe he left her there.  So glad to hear it wasn't Florida.

What a selfish heartless sod. 

The judge should sentence him to 5 hours in the truck with no food and no water in that scorching heat and then lock him up for a few months. 

What an insensitive person! I hope he gets an appropriate punishment.

I can't imagine anyone I know to sit and wait in a car while I'm playing games. No way.

          Maybe HE should do his punishment in the Florida heat

And no im the only gambler in my family besides my dead granma, she was the one who teach me poker at age 6 or 7 lol  And from that way it went. Happy gambling but be kind too one and another .):)

I have heard all kinds of crazy things at the casino I work.  I have even found drugs on the casino floor.  People leave their kids and dogs in the car often and they are made to leave

Horrible story, why on earth did he not just take her inside with him ? You have to assume she did infact want to go with him and he insisted on leaving her in the car or I dont see how this would make news... but whatever the case, five hours is a real long time. Horrible person.

So many poor babies and children have died being left in hot cars.

I saw a story about a couple who saw a boy, about 4, sitting in a hot car with closed windows.
The woman called 911, as we have been instructed by the news.  While she was on the phone, mom
came out of the DOLLAR STORE and saw the couple by the car with the woman on the phone.
Mom swore at the lady, jumped in her car.  Ran over the ladies legs.  Backed up, gunned her car, and ran
over the man, flipping him over the windshield.

The woman had a spiral tibia fracture and multiple other leg breaks.  She may never walk the same again.

Mom was released on $500 bail.

terrible, should get community service order. Stay in a car for 5 hours a day for a week to drum it in his numb skull

                    Gabby,  that's terrible and I'm sorry to say that sounds like it could be in Florida.  We're hearing
these things on the news all the time it seems.  And  let me tell you,  IMO  September here gets a lot hotter than August.    Y'know one of the bad parts of that story is if you're a witness or a bystander and wants to help,  you're almost in a no win situation.    If you try to do the right thing you might get sued or worse.  If you do nothing,  how could you live with the guilt?  Bad situation any way you look at it. 

What a selfishness!! Prison time is real punishment for him.
