We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.
Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.
We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.
La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

There really is not words to say..but "wow"....he was on top of his game in the 80's. I just found it and im floored. He was as big an icon as Elvis was in his day.
He will be remembered in the prime of his life. My condolences to all his fans and family.

God Bless Micheal and his family in their time of loss.
I loved Micheal so much. His album "Thriller" came out when I was a teenager. I still have that album, (now on CD) and I listened to it just the other day, never thinking in a million years it would be the last time I did before he died. Again, another death before their time is so hard to take.
This loss will be felt Worldwide. I am but one of millions who share in saddness today after hearing this news.
Again, God Bless you Micheal, and I personally thank you for sharing your talents with me and the rest of the the world.

I tell you, this WAS surprising. And also, this makes an incredible week. Ed McMan, Farah Fawcett and now MJ...
Weird.
Scary too, as I'm 49..ekk (Just kidding I haven't done half the drugs he'd probably done) But sad none the less... :'(
It will be thought of as similar to JFK's assassination "where were you when.....?
(I was 3 at daycare and the caretakers were sobbing uncontrollably and that's why it sticks in my mind) -

"Last night it was suspected his collapse could have been caused by an overdose of painkillers.
An Emergency Room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol — similar to morphine.
A Jacko source said: “Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing. "
This is awful and sad and such a waste.

Hi Gang:
If anyone has AT&T for their wireless carrier, they are giving away two different ringtones of Micheal Jackson as a tribute.
"You are not alone" & Pretty Young Thing" (for free)
I downloaded mine the other day. I appreciated AT&T for doing that for us Micheal fans. Thought maybe some might be interested.

Wow, I must say that i'm really dissappointed to read even more about M.J. here on LCB. Yes, he was a great performer and yes he died, so do a million other people in the world everyday....why do celebrities always get such great coverage, they are no better than you or me.......can you believe they STOPPED the news on every station just to announce it and then continued to talk about it?? Is his death really more important than anything else that's going on in the world????

Was Michael better than me? Hmmmmm....let me see...I believe he accomplished more than I have...actually more than more than I have....like waaaaaay more than I have. Did he make a better impact on the world? more than I have? That would be another yes. YES!..he made an impact in so many ways...me? ...I swat flies for my mom whenever they get into the house. When I call out my name...will I get the same reaction as Michael would calling out his name? Michael would be swarmed the moment he yelled out "Hi, it's Michael!".....me?...i'd probably get handcuffed and thrown into a looney bin.
The part about "was his death really more important than anything else that's going on in the world" - I'd have to say...that even with his death he made a positive impact to the world..like you said..everything stopped...his death marked a day...not just to pay our respect to an international icon..but it's a day the world stopped together, reminiscing about the past - a journey back to the good times...a day that even in death there was joy as people celebrated his life...a day where instead of focusing on the problems that the world faces day in and day out...it was a day that I did forget about my problems and other peoples problems...for me that was good day.

Hi Satan,
There is a part of each and everyone of us that comes to adore or idolize either someone or something. It's part of human nature. Whether it's your favorite sports figure, actor or singer.....we look up to them. They are some how inspirational to us...as we strive to reach our goal....or brings us happiness from the everyday art of living.
MJ brought music....his music is a part and will be a part of peoples lives for a long time to come. With his music he created memories in so many peoples lives.
I can't imagine life without music. Music soothes the soul...brings us comfort...makes us happy...and understands us. How could we not embrace someone who has had such an effect on our lives.
I'm far from disappointed for a member to start this thread and the responses recieved by it. Its shows that not only are we gamblers....we are gamblers with heart!

Satansmuff,
I'm taking a shot here... not a big MJ fan? I'm not sure i get your post... Disapointed to see a post on LCB about Michael Jacksons death? What would make you disapointed?
Why does the media show so much coverage on his death... well... just another guess... but i think thats there job... to get the biggest news stories and broadcast them and try and get as many veiwers as they can.
It seems that you could care less about his death and what all the news channels have to bring us... but MILLIONS do.
For many of us, he was a part of our lives in many ways for many years. His loss was very sad for many of us and a total shock. Being able to share it here on LCB with friends has been great for me, it showed me that i'm not the only person who had love for this man and wanted to share the memories of his life and the passing of his death.
Ok... one last comment, i'm sure i'll be loved for this.
You seem like a pretty bright person from what i have seen you post here on LCB... but just being real... this last post you made, seems like it would have come from a child, and or one who has no clue! -

in response to Soda, you mentioned how much more accomplished he is than you, and sure...he's more accomplished than alot of people, but does that make his life more significant?? How about all of our U.S. soldiers that are losing their lives everyday?? Do their deaths mean less because only a few know their names?? Those are some real heroes but no one bothers to mention their names, but hey...one celebrity dies and let's stop all covereage on the wars going on right now where someones brother, sister, mother, father, son, and daughter are dying and in horrible ways, just to protect us and give the rest of a better country. I think we need to recognize the good in people and not the fame.

Back to Trotter....as I just mentioned in my last post, it's really sad when i'm trying to watch CNN and follow the war and it gets cut off to announce the death of a celebrity, and then continue to talk about it for over an hour.. I would expect the kind of coverage that it got on MTV, or VH1, but on CNN?? I got family over in Iraq along with millions of other people in the united states who care alot more about what's going on over there than M.K dying. Oh and I was a fan of his music, but his death hardly touched me, i'm sorry but I can't really feel sympathy for child molesters. And I'm very well aware that many believed he was innocent, but hey those people in the jury believed OJ was too.

I just can't help myself...
WHAT are you talking about? The wars that are going on around the world have been getting a ton of coverage... and the people who protect us and have lost there lives DO get the coverage EVERYDAY... lots of it. And all of it WELL deserved!
How can you say no one mentions there names? It's all over the news EVERYDAY... on MANY news channels.
What are the media outlets to do?
News comes from many different places, and when a huge story comes out, they jump on what they think the people want to see and hear, and thats just what the death of MJ did. 100's of millions of people want to know who, what, where, when and why... and the media is giving it to us.
I'm sure if Korea fired a nuclear missile and hit the US like they say they just might... MJ's story would take a back seat for a bit, and the media would do there job in covering it.
Are you saying that the media should have just said in passing that "oh ya, by the way Michael Jackson passed away today" and not covered the story like they have?
I guess it ALL has nothing to do with who's lives are more important and how much time should be spent on who. As media outlets, their job is to cover the biggest story out there... and if your saying the death of Michael Jackson was/is not the biggest story out there, your wrong.
In your last statement your last sentence says, "i think we need to recognize the good in people and not the fame"... are you saying MJ had no good in him? lol
That man did so much "good" for others in many countries and in many ways! And the media is covering that part of his life too! I'm sure we all wish we could have done 1/100th of the good he did for others.

LMAO.... the more i read what you write... the more i now can see you really have no clue!
My last post was before i saw your comment to me, so now i'l comment on this latest no clue post!
Is CNN a war news channel... or is it a news channel? Should they not cover anything other than war news? Thats what your saying right? Your war news got cut off my the death of Michael Jackson.
Do you really think your the only person who has family in a war, knows people in a war... Or how about this.... BEEN in a WAR. (that would be me, Desert Storm). Just because we want to know about the death of a celeb... does not mean we care any less for our service people and what they are doing/done.
Childmolester? Again... this is the kind of comment that makes me say you have no clue... and are simply a MJ hater. Not even going to get into why that comment is ... well like a said before... sounds like it came from a child!
I'm sure others feel the same way when they read your comments as well, but none will say it... like i have. -

Well, apparently you didn't read everything, because no, I don't think i'm the only person who has family over there...as I stated millions of other families do also. I just can't understand the why 1 celebs death overshadows everything in the world. Besides, this is only my opinion, why does it concearn you so much Trotter......was he a friend of yours or something?? Anyways I voiced my opinion on this and that's all...now if you feel like acting like a CHILD, and want to whine and cry some more about someone's opinion, then by all means help yourself, but i'm done. "A man in showbiz was lost, sad yes, but oh well everyones dies.....not world breaking news" that's MY opinion, nothing more, and nothing less!!!

LOL.... why does it concern me so much? Here is your answer. Your first ignorant post on this subject started off by saying "I'm dissapointed.... blah blahh blahhh blaahhh" disapointed... ? You never answered my question as to how you were "dissapointed"... you went on to ramble about how you have family over there and so do millions... (like i really thought you were the only person) (eeeee awwwwww) If you play poker you know what that means!
The reason it concerns me so much, is i posted this topic... and your comment needed a reply, or at least i wanted to find out what you meant by dissapointed.
You came to a GENERAL discussion on a LCB forum... and started... to whine and cry like a child... not me. We were all showing love and mourning the lose of a " loved one" and you like a totally ignorant fool, posts one of the coldest, reply's i have ever seen on here. It looked like you almost wanted to have an argument. I find it hard to belive that when you started off your post with "i'm dissapointed" and then rambled on that you didnt think you would offend a few people who unlike you might have really cared about this person. Did you ever think about that? Did you not realize that people who were making posts cared about this guy... ALOT. What did you think was going to be the reply?
Just like you said... this is my opinion and i'll speak what i want, but unlike you, there are certain things i wont do... LIKE GO TO A FORUM WHERE THE SUBJECT IS THE DEATH OF A PERSON... and then show no class by saying that persons death interupted your precious show on CNN and didnt deserve the air time that your loved ones get. In my eyes. it was childish... and speaking of childish... just like your last comment... " why does it concern you so much trotter... was he a friend of yours"
Thats JUST the type off CHILDISH comments i'm talking about. Did you stick your tounge out too when you posted it?
I did not whine and cry one bit... what i did was put you in your place with my replies to your postings, and you just don't like it thats all.
You talk about your opinion... maybe we should ask a few people here on LCB to read these posts... then pick it up with your comments... and ask them if anyone was offended by what you said. Ya... that sounds great, an opinion poll.
Should i take your approach on people dieing in the wars? Sad, yes, but oh well people die everday... not worldbreaking news.
As much as you hate it.... Michael Jackson dieing IS world breaking news and as hard as it may be to belive... people on LCB care about him DEEPLY... and your ingnorant, childish, no clue post's needed to be addressed.
Bottom line, your first post was like a slap in the face to us who cared about him, and you had to know it when you posted it, i take that personally and i'm going to let you know about, not in the nice way that the two people before me did... but straight forward.
I can see why you said in your last email... "i'm done" id be done too if my last three posts made me look like the biggest A@@ on LCB! Run forest run!~
Lets start that opinion poll

What is so uncivil about what is going on? I'm just speaking my mind... is there a rule about speaking your mind? Not all posts are going to be agreed on, and there are people who are not going to like what others say and will reply with what they feel... whats the problem? I'm not cursing and or doing anything other than speaking my mind, and if speaking your mind is not allowed, then don't have forums!
As far as opinion polls go... Are they only allowed when it concerns "the allmighty one"
You posted a opinion poll when it came to you getting a new pix... so whats up with that? Is that only a one way street?
Give me one valid reason to delete my post... other than your the " allmighty one". -

Trotter, theres no rule about speaking your mind, and you are free to share your opinions but in civilized manner, something which apparently you arent capable to do.
You didnt curse but I find your comments to be over the top and in a certain way offending, and I the " Almighty one " am not going to tolerate it.
There is the right way to address a person and theres a wrong way. Guess whats yours?
The reason why I said there wont be a poll is coz i didnt want things to escalate . This thread already turned bad, and the poll would only make things worse , but then again thats exactly what you wanted...isnt it?!
I never said Im going to delete your post, i only said i was going to close this topic in case you guys cant behave like adults.
Now, this is your second time to attack me, so I strongly suggest you to count to 10 before addressing me or any member in the future.
In addition Im closing this thread for converstion, for the obvious reasons.
