most memorible christmas as a child

what was your most christmas memory you had as a child? mine was when i was about 8 years old and I always wanted a chalk board. my parents had 8 kids and i was the second oldest and we didnt have much money but to me, a chalk board ment a lot. so, when i opened my present that Christmas morning and saw that chalk board i was 1 happy 8 year old girl. i laid it down beside me to open another present, when my toddling 1 year old brother came stumbling over to me and guess what? He fell right on my chalk board, breaking it to pieces. needless to say i cried ear old would do a yelled at my brother. but my mother calmed me and told me i would get another 1. though i never got another chalk board, but that christmas stuck with me still today.

Oh Victoria, that is heartbreaking! I just can imagine how you felt :). I got a chalkboard one year too because I would pretend I was a teacher lol.

Love your question and it is my favorite memories as a child!. We always opened up presents on Christmas morning and there was always a huge display ( not wrapped) from Santa Claus.

My older sister and I would get up at the crack of dawn fly down the hall to the living room and look under the tree to see what the jolly Kris Kringle left. There was always a two semi-circle display of toys - one for her and one for me. 

This particular year I was around 7 and to be honest don't know what in particular triggered it, but I was so elated that I lost my voice literally!. For like 5 minutes i could not speak. The words would not come out no matter how hard i tried. 

I motioned my sister to no avail because she was wrapped up in her own excited world. I wasn't so concerned though cuz I was too busy playing with the dolly that wets and the Candy Land board game!

The weekend after Thanksgiving, my twin brother and I always got to spend the long weekend with our grandparents.  There was always so much to do.  I was allowed to sit in the Quilting Circle with my grandmother and quilt along side her like a grown up. My brother was off in the wood shop with my Grandfather making bird puppets to raffle off at the chili feed.  We felt so grown up. Right before bedtime we were each given a marker- Red for Casey and Green for me. Then the treasured Sears catalog was presented with instructions to pick two small gifts and one large gift each. I remember how shiny and beautiful the pages looked when the fire light reflected off them.I can even recall how new the pages smelled! Hour after hour we flipped through the pages together-- dreaming and often pointing out perfect gifts we'd like to gift to each other.  We would agonize and teeter before finally marking our choices--- then of course, we'd have a change of heart.  *Scribble *Scribble*   By the time we were done, the poor thing looked like a rag.I was so lucky to have a twin to share these times with. Honestly-- every celebration is great when you have a built in best friend. But  Christmas time? Yeah.  Christmas time was special because it was a time to dream and give smiles.
