  • Hi guys I just had to share something special with you all.

I had the pleasure of going to the survivor walk with my dad today(yesterday). It was for relay for life. It was a sad and happy time all at once. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the neck and throat 1 and a 1/2 years ago the doctors all said there is no way he will survive as there were mass tumors on his jugular vein . Never in my life have I felt so much pain not knowing what the outcome would be. Sitting back and watching him go thru the agony from the chemo and radiation and not being able to do anything for him will stick with me forever. He wanted to give up many of times but he didn't. Cancer is the most evil thing ever and I wish there was no such thing as sickness.

I lost my grand parents to cancer so it runs in the family. One of my biggest fears is to lose someone that is sooo close to me, I honestly thought this fear of mine was coming true. I can say that of everything that I have been thru in my life from abuse to losing everything I owned, this tops them all. I am proof that miracles do happen and the lord above does listen and answer prayers grin My dad is cancer free as of today and he will stay that way forever cuz I have faith and you cannot go thru life without have a little faith.

This was my first time going to the relay for life celebration and let me tell you it is amazing to see all of the survivors. the most beautiful thing that caught my eye was after the opening ceremonies and prayers, they opened this big cage that no one could see and about 50 white dove just flew up into the sky  :'( omg so so amazing. Anyway thanks for listening as this is my other family and I have to share my happy moments with you all. kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss

  • @Givennsz: you and your father are truly blessed & you're right that you have to have a little faith to get through this life.  Thank you for sharing :')

  • That's a truly moving story givennsz.  You are indeed very lucky that your father survived and I'm sure youre Dad looks at life through different eyes now.

Thank you for sharing such a personal story and I'm very happy for you and your father.

  • Thank you for your heart-felt sharing of your father's story and the experience you were blessed with at the survivor walk.
I understand what you and your father had to endure: 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3/4 colorectal cancer. With God's grace, skilled physicians and the love and support of my friends and family; 4 years later, I, too, appear to be free of cancer.
Your telling of your story is so honest and generous of spirit that, on reading it, your words reached out and I felt the power of the human spirit that you experienced: the warm, hollow sadness for your pain and loss; but, mostly, the profound, overwhelming joy from being blessed with knowing- and experiencing- just how deeply we love and appreciate those things that we've come to understand are truly important to us.
Thank you for your generosity in sharing your story. May God's love and grace shine strongly on you, your father and your family.
