My Hazel scare.........

Hiya Guys and Dolls,

Last night i a terrible scare with my Hazel. I had went out for three hours or so and when i came home noticed that Hazel had thrown up. Thinking at first it was just one of those flukes until she threw up several more times in the course of an hour and a half or so.

There was nothing she could have possibly ate while i was gone because there was nothing left out or evidence of anything she could of gotten into. When she started to pant and cry i knew she was in stress and began to really worry. My worst fear was maybe her tummy had flipped which is so common with boxes.

By this time it was after m and all the vets were closed and had to call an emergency 24 hour vet who said bring her in. On the car ride there she whimpered and was definitely not herself. While we waited to see the doc (2 hours or so) she began throwing up several more times.

I was in a total state of panic. All these horrible thoughts went through my mind and i thought if something happens to her i will never recover the loss. Finally when the doc saw her she said she wanted to do x-rays to rule out my biggest fear that her tummy may have twisted. Waiting for the x-ray results seemed like an eternity and i was going crazy with the waiting. This was my baby and was not prepared for anything like this.

The results showed everything was ok internally. I was so relieved i fought to fight back the tears. Doc told me to give her white rice and chicken today and keep her quiet as possible and if she continues to throw up bring her to my vet.

Thank God she was able to hold down the the rice and chicken and seems to be much much better. Today she looked over at me as if to say "mom you worry way too much about me. I am a big girl"!

glad to hear shes better today. Boxer are known to have a very weak stomachs and being a boxer lover myself  I know how you must have felt.

But I wouldnt trade them for any other dogs.

hope she doesnt get sick like that again and im soooooo glad shes doing good now 

Thank goodness Hazelita is okay. She's a tough girl.

Is she feeling better by now Lips?  SO sorry for your scare.  I had to take my big German Shepherd in to the vet last week because he was not behaving like his normal ole happy go lucky self.  He dropped 5 lbs in the past few weeks as well.  Turns out he has another bacterial infection, in his skin.  He got one in January as well.  had to treat him with antibiotics and steroids as well as frequent baths with medicated shampoo.  After 5 days of treatment...already getting back to his perky self and smelling better!  The smell that comes with this bacterial infection is horrid...like a really horrid/putrid yeast smell. Anyhow...I'm hoping Hazel is doing better and that YOU are feeling a bit relieved as well.  I must say....I LOVE that photo of her with her tongue sticking out Hugs to you both.

Hazel going to be alright lips by the looks of that picture she is sassy and alert looking. Something outside she could of ate made her sick. I had to bring my dog once after hours coz he cut his paw and they charged me and arm and a leg but i didn't care coz it had to be done. Hope both you gals dogs are feeling better.

Awww you guys are great and i hope you all know that  ! Hazey is doing real good today and pretty much back to her old self. I decided to give her rice and chicken for one more day to be safe.

Hymacaw i hope your baby is feeling better too. One thing the doc told me is that German Shepherds have the highest risk of having their tummy flip. I never even knew such a thing could happen and never realized Shepherds were at such a high risk.

I'm so glad that she's doing much better now, that she recovered well. While I was reading the post, I really got scared for Hazel.

Mark you and i are now best friends for life thank you hun!!
