Personality Traits of a Gambler

There are four personality traits of a gambler/trader. Which one are you?

1) The Adventurer: Always looking for action and adventure, when at times it might be wise to wait. Adventurers need to be in the game, and are prone to overtrading. Adventurers do not fear much, but this can also lead to a lack of discipline.

2) The Aggressive: Ego is a powerful factor for Aggressives, who value winning very highly. Discipline is a strength, though Aggressives may overreact in the heat of battle. Position sizing is a likely problem, as Aggressive want to win big now, and this impatience can prove costly.

3) The Emotional: Here the strong feelings can prove to be barriers in the Emotional mind. Internal self-talk may prove to be excessively critical as Emotional feel even small situations more intensely. Emotionals may feed off the excitement or lack thereof in a market, which may cause them to jump on uptrends too late or get out of slow stocks just before they break out again.

4) The Reflective: They may get tense and nervous in a new situation. Reflectives are more at risk of not pulling the trigger due to too much introspection.

I'm the Adventurer. I have no discipline what so ever.

one trait that is deep in the hearts of every gambler is irresponisibility......to gamble more when enough is enough and to justify the losses as acceptable even though on paper they are devastating...i wonder what the percentage is of gamblers who are "problem gamblers"  and how many of those will never admit to themselves that they are...i was a problem gambler for many years and money had absolutely no worth..i was fortunate to  a.) have had enough money to recover and  b.)  wake up.......it is a very sad place to be for those who are in denial but the first step is to own up to how deep you are into the problem

I guess I'm number 4.

I'm four but sometimes maybe three as well.

          Great topic Lips,  I  can see combinations at times and maybe more.  I'd say probably number one and three.    However, if things are going well and I'm way ahead the number two will almost always surface.
I think as humans we're greedy by nature.
