Please send good thoughts...

Hi LCB family,

My son was just taken to the hospital in Reno, NV with symptoms of a stroke. They are doing tests now and he is slightly improved (able to speak a little) already, but I wanted to ask that you send him your good will and wishes and if you pray, please do... His name is Marc and he is just 40 years old, and faces many health issues at his young age.

So sorry to hear the news and my heart is aching for you and both Marc and his wife.
Just to let you know I am thinking of you and truly wish if there's anything I can do to make things less difficult...

I just had a hopeful update on his condition... preliminary tests are looking like it might not have been a stroke, but they won't know until they do an MRI tomorrow. At this time they are looking at it as some kind of a seizure... keep the good thoughts coming, I know that they are helping Marc... (and me).

Thanks guys... Still waiting for news... I am holding up as well as I can, but I am pretty stressed and very tired at this point... hanging on to the hope it was a seizure (bad enough) and not a stroke. He had tremors and trembling on the right side of his body today though and that is worrisome... thanks for hanging in there with me! 

Awww Katt. At least he is in the best place to get the help he needs.  I'm so sorry to hear you are worrying so much but I do understand why you are (I would worry too is what I mean).  I truly hope it is something small and can be resolved quickly.

Hi everyone, I just had a telephone conversation with Marc and compared to yesterday he is doing worlds better. He was able to tell me a lot of what is going on, so he is tracking pretty well, though he has blank periods in his memory from the time this started yesterday. He did tell me, however, that he started remembering things yesterday when I told him he better get well this instant and figures that is what got him on the road to recovery... I think he was teasing me, the young whippersnapper!

The results of the MRI are not in yet because of the holiday and they will not be sure until that comes back if there is any damage or tumor or anything like that in his brain, but at this time they are inclined to think it may have been a seizure and are covering that base while they wait, as well as treating him for the stroke symptoms. They have run most of the tests now but are keeping him in the hospital for the time being. He is still having tremors and weakness on his right side, including the right side of his throat, but the doctors say that can be from a seizure as well as a stroke... so I hope, hope, hope that they are right.

All of your prayers and well-wishes for our family are what is helping most in my opinion, so thank you all and please keep it coming. s2000chick, thank you so much for starting the prayer chain, the more people sending prayers and energy the better. And hymacaw, thanks for the compliment on the picture. I think that is my favorite picture because you can see how happy they make each other... He is my only child and I am a pretty proud mom...

I will update you all tomorrow when the MRI results are in... thank you all for walking with me through this very difficult time.

Thanks for the update and try not to worry so much even though I know it's never easy but I understand how it is as being a parent we worry sick through our bones about our children no matter how old they might be because the love we feel for them can't never change...
Everyone here loves you and you have many friends who's thoughts and prayers are with you.

I love the pic Katt and he has a kind and gentle look about him.  You must be very proud.

You said to him to "Get Well THIS Instant" and you know what, he started to get better.  A few strong motherly words did the trick. 

So glad he phoned you Katt, that must have been a huge relief in itself.

Positive thoughts flowing from me too. Very sorry to hear, but glad he's doing better, will include in prayers (Which lately are working great)

Today's update:

Marc is doing better... they have determined it definitely was not a stroke, but a seizure... now they have to figure out what is causing that, but no permanent damage or tumor or bleed was found on the MRI.

They were going to let him go home today, but when they tried to get him up to get ready to go home he was so dizzy that they decided they are not through with him yet and are keeping him at least until tomorrow.

Very good news it was not a stroke and I hope they find the cause soon and that the newlyweds can get on to newlywed business.

So glad to hear no permanent damage Katt.  That is a huge relief I'm sure.  You can breath a little sigh of relief for now.  I hope they find out what caused it and put it right.

Quick update note: They found that Marc's blood pressure had dropped to a dangerously low level today, thus the dizziness and the decision to keep him longer... I am so glad this hospital and these doctors are being very thorough and very careful...

Thanks for the update Katt.  It's good to hear updates (well for me it is).  It stops me wondering how he is and how you are.

It's good to hear that you found a great hospital and a professional bunch of doctors, they will surely sort things out sooner rather than later. Hang in there Katt, you have so many people sending good thoughts from all over the world.

Katt u dont know me but been here awhile been very ill and death has been at my door my husband is away fighting our world cause the other night i passed out as i usually do just before my father who passed walked in front of my door off and on i kept seeing my family as alot have passed the doctor told me i had to go into a nursing home and now i know what my famiy was saying stand strong you can do this its scary and hard but god bless we are with you as a member of this forum stand strong we are with you and god bless your son my son had a bad crash and has made almost a full recovery and they gave up on him wouldnt even treat his wounds stand strong god bless you are not alone my love spazz

Dear spazz03, I do "know" you though... I have read many of your posts and do know of your trials... I pray for you often and find you to be a wonderfully strong person... I thank you so much for your kind words of hope and the love you send... I send that love back to you and yours in spades!

I feel so relived to know Marc is getting good care...
I know you re going through tremendous amount of difficult time but you keep the positiveness and the strengths to keep it together...
Even times like this you don't stop spreading the warm kindness to others is just so amazing to watch...I am truly grateful to be your friend.

Final update:

Marc got to go home from the hospital today! He has to use a walker for a while and is not allowed to drive until the doctors decide to let him, and they still don't know the cause of the seizures, but will continue to work on that on an outpatient basis. And one of the new medications they gave him for the seizures has given him a very bad case of hiccups. but all in all he feels 100% better. 

And Momma feels a thousand percent better now that I know he is safe and on the mend.

Once again, thank you all for walking with me through this trying time! Your support gave me great strength and your prayers and positive energy, I know, helped my son recover!

The not knowing can drive one to the brink of madness.

I'm so very happy he was released from the hospital and it was found NOT to be a stroke.
It sounds like he has Dr's. who are being on the safe side, which is a great thing.

**Forgot to add something**  You are a remarkable lady, katt.  You have continued to be a bubbly, shining personality on the boards.  One would never know you were dealing with a very stressful situation.  A very admirable trait!!

Thank you Johnny and Gabby... I feel so much lighter now with the crisis passed... drained and tired from the stress, but your words continue to lift me up!

Gabby, thank you for the hug and of course I have to agree Marc is a handsome guy!  And as for your comment about me... I blush  but have to say that the caring from and being able to care for the people here at LCB made it possible for me to get through this with my sanity intact so I can't take any credit!

In my entire life I have always gone to ground, turned inward, and kept my own counsel instead of sharing in times of trouble or pain... this is the first time I have ever opened up and asked for help and my eyes and heart have been opened to the power of sharing a burden with many and having it made lighter. It is a wonderful and warm feeling and I thank all of you for that support!

LCB truly gives me a feeling of home and family... Thank you all again!

Katt, I'm so glad your lad is back at his home where he belongs and is on the mend.  I can understand why you are so relieved.

Katt, great to hear the good news. Hope everything works out for your son.
If I may, I'd like to offer a couple tips, they help me out anyway, when I'm stressing.
1.) the serinity prayer. It's not just for alcoholics, or drug addicts, it's a very meaningfull prayer. google it, if your not familiar.
2.) As difficult as this may seem, your gonna have to make sure your at 100%. It appears your going to be involved with your sons recovery, rehab. You don't want to let your son see you upset, stressing, etc, I think you know what I mean. You want to have a great attitude, he'll pick up on that, and the process goes much smoother, for all concerned.
Your probably aware of these 2 ideas or thoughts anyway, just a friendly reminder.

I do know those two things and have managed to be strong for him, but I did forget about the serenity prayer... you are right it is powerful!

Hey all, please crank up the good thoughts and prayers for my son Marc again... He is in the ER with chest pains... they are doing an EKG now... he was also hallucinating and tried to get out of their moving car... I will update when I learn more.
