I need to jump on the boat also. Are you going "cold turkey" or are you using some product/method to help? Has anyone got any recommendations, maybe something
that they found useful? I'd be interested in any suggestions. Anyways, count me in for support! We CAN do it!!!

Tony: they are most certainly going up again on the first. Great news huh? As I said, I am quitting. I have about six smokes left, and thats it.

Great post on quitting smoking.  I need to quit also.  So, what are you going to do: nicorette, cold turkey???  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tomorrow will begin for me  "The Rest of my life." My new llife. A life without smoking. I have smoked for 23 years, I am 40, and I must start a new chapter in my life, again, one without cigarettes. I know it takes courage, disapline, strength, determination, and some faith in yourself.  You know, I'm scared, but there is a part of me that is excited. I look forward to the day I wake up and not cough. To be able to sing again and hold that note. I will not miss the panic feeling when you just realized you forgot your cigarettes.  I will not miss the smell on my clothes, the taste in my mouth, or the sight of a dirty ashtray in an otherwise spotless house. To be able to run again, without becoming winded.  Concentrate on the positive things my friends.  We are about to tackle one of the hardest things people ever do in life. One to be extremely proud of when we are successful.  DONT QUIT QUITTING.

WHAT A great post!!!!  I am 40 right along with you hun, but we can do it for our kids.  We wanna see our grand babies grow up. 

I got up this morning and wanted a cigarette with my coffee, But I didn't.
I wanted a cigarettes after I got out of the shower, But I didn't.
I wanted a cigarette while I was reading new posts on my computer, But I didn't.
I wanted a cigarette driving to the store, but I didn't.

Minute by minute, I'll beat this thing.....

  Take small steps, and be proud when you make them friends...

I tried quitting so many times, and it was real hard, but the last time finally worked.

and I smoked 3 packs a day for 19 years..(always had an excess problem)

I quit smoking, quit drinking, and went on a diet all at the same time. 

Traded it all in for gambling! Hahahahahaha!!  

It's been about 20 hours for me since my last smoke!  I have eaten 2 bags of sunflower seeds and changed from coffee to tea.
This helps since I use to smoke with my coffee, I think drinking tea helps me think about smokes a little less.

I want to smoke right now. My three week old Nephew is back in the hospital with a infection they can not define. They had him in there last week, surgury, and sent him home on antibiotics. Well now it has come back, and back to the hospital last night, another surgury, and a new antibiotic. He'll be there a week now to watch and see if the infection will react to the new drugs.  I want to smoke right now very much. Luckily I dont have any with me.  Keep my nephew  in your thoughts and prayers...

my prayers are with you pmm.

  at the candy factory we get letters from fomer smokers who say they used dum-dum pops to quit smoking . it gives the hand something to hold and keeps the mouth occupied. and it's a sweet reward for not smoking that cigarette!

Phantom: thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Thank you all. Just an update, it is day 4 without a smoke. My nephew is still in the hospital and I really am under stress. To be so little (4 weeks old) and to be so sick. It breaks my heart.  :'( If I can make it thru this without smoking, I can do anything.  PMM2008

Shelli...It's ok...I did too, just yesterday, had a single cigarette. I am so stressed. Lets just dust ourselves off, pick ourselves up, and keep working on it. No guilt on my account okay?  We can still do this...    PMM2008

Ahhh, I think I picked the wrong time to quit smoking.  :-\ Latest word on my nephew is he has been diagnosed with a MRSA infection. Will be in the hospital for an indefinate period of time. At 4 weeks old he has a drain tube, a pic line, and is being feed intraveinously because he can't keep anything down due to all the medications upsetting his stomach. The doctors refuse to give a prognosis other than "lets see if the medications work."  :'( If I start smoking again, please everyone understand, I really tried, but this is tuff to deal with without my friend nicotine.  Thanks for letting me share.                            PMM2008

I have not heard from any of the people who decided to quit with me.  How are you doing with the not smoking thing? I am going on with my fight not to smoke, and doing well as can be expected. I still think of them daily, and still look for them too.  I thought it would be easier by now, but it's still very tuff.                    PMM2008

Well I hope that you all stoped smoking I am trying to stop so I guess that I am a quitter now.  It's been 3mths but I slipped up today went to a land casino and I bought a pack and smoked them.  I am back on the wagon for now but can't stop thinking of smoking again.  But I do have to say it tasted like s--t.
