  • What is Veterans Day?

United States President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11, 1919 by saying, "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations."

Thank you to all our Veterans who fought for our freedom.
Thank you to the unknown soldier.
Thank you for the bravest men throughout history

Thank you for making our world a better place to live in.

    God Bless you and America.

  • A poppy in remembrance for all countries who lost soldiers in the line of duty in WWI.

  • I would like to thank every soldier and their loved ones for their sacrifices.  I was not only a veteran of Desert Storm, my husband died while on active duty.  We all make sacrifices and expect nothing in return....it is nice when people recognize Veterans and all they have provided for our future.

    God Bless!!

  • Remembering my Grandfather who served in WW11. He was a proud man and never regretted it. Had a flag outside his house until the day he died.

  • Waching the shows and re-inactments of what they faced and how they fought fearless for our country, giving their lives, giving their sacrifices, giving their all..Those men had to of been the bravest known to live on earth.
We as Americans will never let it be forgotten

Thank you, God Bless you ALL..

  • I have the utmost respect for all the soldiers whether they are Americans or not. They all served their countries, some have survived to tell their war stories and became the veterans , some have fallen.

I know this is an American Holiday, but I would like to express my deepest respect to my Grandad. He is 86 yrs old, and he was just 16 when he joined the Partisans guerrilla fighters, during the WWII, after Nazi Germany occupied Yugoslavia.

He fought for almost 4 yrs against Nazis, Italian fascists and domestic Quisling/collaborationist forces and got wounded twice and survived to see our country liberated.

I still remember some of his war stories, that he told me when i was a kid. And they could probably make 10 movies based on them.

Also I have to highly recommend a TV mini-series called " Band of Brothers" , produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. It is a true story based on the experiences of E Company ("Easy Company") who fought in WWII.

    "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother…
    "

    - King Henry in Shakespeare’s “Henry V”

    cheers
    Zuga

  • My grandfather was a World War II veteran, he even spent some time as a prisoner of war in Russia and I guess that time was really tough because he never was willing to tell me the whole story. Fact is he came back with a permanent injury but that didn't prevent him from being an awesome grandpa for me, my sister and my cousins.
