Here is a couple of tips that might put your mind at ease your mind when registering at a website.
Look for the "S" after the http in the address bar which will appear https://. This means that your information is encrypted. By being encrypted, it prevents hackers from stealing your personal info.
AVG Antivirus offers a free home version. This is a good choice because it comes with a plugin for your browser called LinkSafe that checks any links on screen against a database of known scams. If you're heading into danger, the plugin will let you know.
