Sad face mom :(

Kelsea has come to a point in her life where Ron and I have decided to talk to her doctor about medication. She is upset all the time and just angry with everyone. I had really really hoped that this was never even going to need to be an option. Guess I will call the doc first thing in the morning.

Ahhh sorry to know you are sad. But if it helps her and the doc feels its the best thing for her then it will all work out. It can be very difficult to put children on meds even as adults its not something we like to have to depend on. You are a great mom and making this decision with your hubby i am sure was done with great thought first. In the long run hopefully it will help calm her down and make her feel better too.

So sorry to hear of your pain and sadness about Kelsea. But on the positive side the medication may be able to give you all a better "quality of life." I had to make that decision with my son when he was young and it made a world of difference for us both. Good luck wmmeden.

So sorry for your pain in this decision.  Whatever you decide to do after talking it over with your doc, you know it will be the best for Kelsea as you clearly only have her interests at heart.

wmmeden,I know it is a difficult decision to make but I think the right one.

We just got my son out of the hospital again and he had 20 different meds that the docs wanted filled. Even tho he is in his 20's we still discuss his medication with him.

Tough decision, but you know what's best, mom.  I hope that working out the right meds and making the adjustments goes as smoothly and quickly as possible.

So sorry you are going thru this.  I dont know how old your daughter is but my son started having signs of severe mental illness at 15 and was hospitalized for it.  He was always a difficult child...always angry and on the edge.  You are doing the right thing.  The sooner you deal with it....the sooner you will find out what is going on.  The sooner you start treatment ...the sooner she can be stabilized and will be less traumatic for her as well as your family.

My son is now 26.  Even though he was first diagnosed as depression with psychotic features, we now know that it is schizophrenia.  Very sad. :'(  He's a good looking young man with an excellent talent for golf.  He says when he's playing is the only time he feels normal.  I've even been told by golf pros that with the right training he could turn professional too.  He holds his dreams there.  He feels like a failure because of his illness and still at times is in denial of it. He has struggled with side effects from the different medications over the years so progress has been difficult.

I have never talked about this at LCB but my heart just poured out to you.  I want you to know that you are not alone and you can PM  me anytime, even if you just want to talk.  Over the years I have felt alone because family and friends dont know what to say so they just dont say anything like it doesnt exist.

The sadness is the loss of the child you wish you had before all this happened.

No matter if it is a physical or a mental issue they are still our children and we always want the best for them.There are times we feel useless because there is nothing we can do but be there for them and at times it doesn't feel like it is enough.

Just know you are not alone and it is something I deal with too.
