  • Hiya Guys and Dolls,

I recently heard a story that could of went terribly wrong.....

A college student was driving when an unmarked car put on the siren lights wanting her to pull over. She recalled her parents telling her to never stop for any unmarked police car without dialing 112 to verify it is a legit police officer. As if it was a prophecy she finds herself in this situation.

She calls 112 and asks the police dispatch if there is any patrol car out in the process of stopping a driver on the road. Dispatch radio all the squads and there was none. She was told to keep driving and do not pull over.

After giving her location within minutes four squads surrounded the unmarked car. It was discovered that the man behind the wheel was a serial rapist!

I never even knew such a number existed but i guess if you are suspicious you can call 911 too. I have to admit if i was in this situation i would stop and not think twice about it.

Would you be leery or willing to pull over?

  • I probably would've just pulled over. I can't imagine myself calling to find out whether or not the car was legit. That is a scary thought!

  • This is an incredible news  story Lips.  I don't think I would stop without being 100% sure they were actually police.

UK law says that unmarked police cars must have a uniformed officer in them in order to legally stop you.  Worth remembering for UK members and visitors.

  • wow yes, that was a bad situation, very glad she knew that number to ring. that actually made me sad, cos it makes me think how vulnerable we are actually are. and people can take advantage of the basic things, and because its impersonating a police officer it makes this case and situation more sad. but at least this was a good outcome.

  • That's good to know, I never would have thought about calling to verify the identity of that car.

  • That's a scary story Lips, but with a happy ending. It was great that she actually noticed that the car were unmarked; it probably sounds stupid but I'm sure that when panic takes over, obvious signs could be easily overlooked.
