    Why was the bald eagle chosen as our national symbol?

    The Founding Fathers wanted to choose an animal that was unique to the United States. For six years, the members of Congress engaged in a dispute over what the national emblem should be. As a result of the debate, the bald eagle was chosen because it symbolized strength, courage, freedom, and immortality.

    Our brave eagle wept on September 11th 2001. Not a sign of weakness rather a symbol of the love for our great country. He wept but never faltered as he soared through the sky. His pride injured........but his courage persevered.

    They say there is strength in tears.......i never really believed that before.

            I will never forget the moment I heard we were under attack. I was sitting in a meeting with my boss, and there was a knock on the door that brought the life changing news.

          A fellow employee opened the door.He looked eerily strange to me, his white complextion, his shaky hands. His normal steady voice coming out something of a whisper.  The words he spoke didn't make any sense. "Under attack?" The pentagon was just hit?  The twin towers are on fire? Is this a joke? It's a terrible joke right?  This is the United States, we dont come under attack.  As I searched his eyes for any sign of relief, I recieved none.  Just this dead on stare that looked like two eyes peeking out from under a white sheet.  This was real.

          I shut down my branch that day, sent my employees home, and drove home to watch the TV.  I didn't eat, I didn't answer the phone, I didn't even sleep that night.
             
          I hang my flag every morning on my house, take it down each night.  Today, as I hung that flag it meant so much more than any other day possible could.  I walked into the garage, found another flag, and hung that one too!!!
