skipping school

My ex calls me and says I need to have a talk with "my" son. It is always my son when he is deep in it up to his boot straps. Anyways I asked her what he did now and she said he skipped school. He is in middle school and drove over their to have a word with my boy. Handling the situation was not going to be easy since I was the king of skipping classes when I was a youngster. What do I say don't do as I did, do as I say. He is in his room looking down at the floor like it is going to disappear as I walk in all brawn and brass. Had to give him the whole spiel about how wrong it is and the importance of learning.  Walking out he says dad I promise not to tell mom if you tell me how you got away with it and didn't get caught. So much for my big man speech.

Hahahahah smart kid you have their liquor! That cracked me up, how ever did you keep a straight face! It had to be so hard to reprimand him for that cuz most of us did it at one time or another.

Ahhh such memories of ditching school when i was a kid! I remember the first time i did it. I was so afraid i was going to get caught that i didn't even have a good time.

Then when i got in high school my best friend's mom would call up the school for me and her daughter to report we would be absent. I thought her mom was sooooooo cool for that! Well unfortunately the school got wise and recognized her voice when she called for her daughter than me.

The school called my mom and asked if she called in for me and of course she said no and they told her they suspected my friends mom for calling. Omg when i got home she was waiting for me like a spider in a web waiting to trip me up and asking how was your day blah blah!

I knew right then and there she knew what was going on. She was more mad at my friend's mom who called in for me then the fact that i cut school. Looking back now i totally get it.

That is a bright boy you have on your hands. Like father like son hehe. I was one of the nerds who liked school and never skipped. We had ditch day once a year when i was in junior high and about 1/3 the students were missing from class on that day. Half would get busted by truant officers anyway i was not that brave. 

Definitely a smart kid! I used to skip come classes during high school but I was always skipping the ones that didn't interest me too much, like Maths I never skipped History, Literature, English or French though.

I only skipped school a few times and my mom would always say "just tell me". I never did and she managed to found out! I would get grounded and she would say, I told you just to tell me if I did. I felt it wasn't as fun, the best part of all is the thrill of not getting caught. I have to admit there are a few times she doesn't know about. 

I never skipped school without my mom knowing. She always knew what I was up to.

Very smart child... lol.. those talks of how wrong it is to do, when the wrong you done did...

I skipped in highschool, it was three days in a row,the fourth day I went back to class well in order for me to get back in my mom would have to come in, I didnt know this, I was sent home... well, I was too scared to tell my mother 3 weeks went by.. I was so tired and bored with skipping school I wanted back in.. I had to tell my mother I skipped school and needed her to get me back in, telling on myself cured me of skipping... my mother was soooo mad.. I remember her voice and words 3 WEEKS? IVE BEEN GIVING YOU LUNCH MONEY FOR THREE WEEKS AND YOU HAVENT BEEN IN SCHOOL!?! ... I never skipped again lol

After awhile it did get boring hiding out. There were not many places to go cuz cops would stop us and ask why aren't we in school. High school was better cuz by noon we were out of school if you were on the work program.

OMG...Im such the nerd...I didnt ditch school.  It didnt even occur to me to not be in school until one day my brother says to me;  here write me an absent note, youre handwriting is just like moms .  We were in High School

The cops were everywhere making it hard to do anything. You could go to the mall but could never really buy anything. If there wasn't a party than it was no fun!

I'm just interested in hearing what do you plan to tell him? We're getting a great parenting lesson here, so it's interesting to find out what kind of effect will your words have on him in the end. With such a smart kid, you need to be very, very careful!

Goodness liquorman, yes I would really like to know how you answered that. As for me I skipped school at least once a week. My father was at work so he never knew. Now that i think of it i wonder why the school never sent letters or called him. I was mischievous but never got into any serious trouble.
