Who here smokes? I do, about a half a pack a day I have been smoking for 15 years, and Im only 29 years old.
I'd like to quit, but wouldn't know where to start! All of my family smokes. We have more smokers than non-smokers.
My husband hates it! He thinks its disgusting, he gags if he smells it. I always tease him, because he met me with cigarette in hand.
I smoke outside only, and I make my own cigarettes to save some money. I have a little machine, tobacco, and some papers with filters attached. For about $30 I support my habit all month.
Im a little worried, because my moms mom died of lung cancer when she was 40. All the diseases you can get just from smoking is horrifying.
So do you smoke? Did you used to? How did you quit?
Smokers!!!

I'm a smoker. I smoked for about 17 yrs. I tried to quit one time for 7 days, smoked again and never thought of quiting anytime soon, lol. I drank quit smoking medicine (forgot what its called) and it made me feel horrible. My dad was a smoker, most of my friends are smokers, so it's hard to quit. I smoke when I'm happy, sad, stressed, I smoke after a meal, I smoke when I first wake up in the morning, recently I develop a habbit of smoking while spinning on slots, lmao.

I too smoke, I fluctuate between store bought and self-made. Sometimes I roll or use the tubes. Those packing amchines don't always work great though.
I'm so stressed now with the school (Only 2 nd day so far) and can see that I'd be worse off (I'm guessing) if I was to quit now. Though I might try to, I am not too sure I can. -

LOL I make mine. I have my own little cigarette factory lol, I can make a half a pack in just a couple of minutes, but every once in a while I will buy a pack. Out here in AZ the "cheap" cigarettes are still $6
I feel like Id probably be worse off too geneco if I quit. Its the one thing that keeps me "sane" with all these little monsters running around
I've overcome the most evil, nasty of addictions, but cigarettes I just cant do it.

Sisters and brothers,
I am all with you!
Here in Germany these "health" big brother guys are also all over us.
A pack of cigs comes now for 4,25 euros (about 8 usd) and I switched to "building" them myself (about 2 usd per pack).
And do you now what: they even taste better!
I started smoking back in the seventies with Lucky Strike without filters. Then these cigarettes had about 2 mg of nicotine and tons of tar. You actually got yellow fingers from them:-)
Today in Europe (European legislation) all factory cigarettes are not allowed by law to have more than about 0.8 mg of nicotine and soandso tar.
So all the legal, "standard" cigarettes are nothing but a scam version of those scam "light cigarettes". A scam of a scam, think about it and enjoy!
Spent hundreds on "internet cigarette purchasing" without ever getting a single cigarette. Even had to pay taxes on this. GRR!
Then I discovered diy and I love it. Better value for your money and you can make them as strong as you like. You can actually control it by reducing the amount of tobacco that you put in the stuffing machine.
And - at least in Germany - the tobacco is still natural. Processed tobacco for factory cigarettes is full of artificial ingredients to make it "tasty" in spite of all the regulations.
Keep on rolling, stuffing. Your diy-cigs do not only taste better, they are even healthier to you and your budget! -

I don't smoke, never have because I was raised by people who did and it was gross. The doc told me when I was a kid that i had more tar on my lungs than an adult, they weren't careful about it at ll so to speak. So I hate em. But my dh smokes. He said he is going to quit, but he doesn't. When my mom died 2 years ago of lung cancer, he said he would quit. He didn't. When I got cancer last year lol, he said he would quit. He still hasn't. I give up on nagging, I don't even say anything as long as it's outside and not around my kids at all. The doctor is on him now to quit, so I leave it to her to nag. I think it's great that you are even considering it

Ok I can finally say I'm a "non-smoker" after over 20 years of smoking Virginia Slims Menthols. My Dr. put me on Wellbutrin about a month ago,and I have not smoked for 3 weeks, the only side effects have been sleeping less which actually is a good thing for me,before I was on Zoloft for 10 years and it made me sleep really late, and I felt like I was going thru the motions in life, now I feel more alive and have joined a health club, have been dating a man who I am absolutely crazy about and look forward to what is yet to come,to be honest I still have cravings but I ordered an electronic cigarette which I will post the results soon.FYI I opted to order a "disposable" e-cigarette which is less than 20 bucks,as opposed to a permanent one which can cost anywhere from 50 to 100 bucks. If anyone is interested here is the link......

I still smoke but some of my friends stopped smoking from one day to the other and now i am thinking about what to do...
In germany you can get a special one time injection (75,- €) at a certain doctor. It's totally homeopathic (natural, nothing chemical), stops the impulse and the addiction to smoke instantly and I was more than sceptic but my friends really don't smoke anymore (one of them was a heavy smoker for more than 30 years) !?! really
I mean they save a lot of money and no question it's better for the health but damn, I like to smoke really...
What would you do?
If you're interested you can take a look at www.neurasan.de but as far as I know it's only in german... -

Update: Ok well I ordered and recieved the electronic cigarette and as promised I am reporting back, I ordered a Veppo disposable cigarette, it is a lot cheaper than a permanent type and if it is a close representation of a permanent model,I would advise you to beg off, heres why....
1. The weight is really weird, it feels heavy and unbalanced due to the battery at the tip.
2. You need to drag very hard to get the effect your used to from a real cigarette.
3.It doesn't taste as good as a real cigarette to me.
Now it will help at times when you have to satisfy that "oral fixation" (get yer mind outta the gutter!!!)
I don't have serious cravings like before thanks to the Wellbutrin, but any habit is hard to overcome so I guess from time to time until I am completely over it, I will use it to "settle" down.
But it does look like a real cigarette and the tip glows orange when you inhale, and you will be able to inhale and exhale "smoke", (its really vapor)
P.S. You are able to order different strengths from light to very strong and regular or menthol. -

I've been smoking for 27 years started in High school. I quit once for 1 month on a bet. That night my friend paid me and i started again stupid. The funny thing is when my girlfriends would tell me to quit i couldn't but i could do it on a bet. Now days its hard to quit. I just had my gums done and the dentist told me i needed to quit otherwise all that
i spent (1500) will be for nothing. When i'm at work i would only smoke about 4 cig and when i get home i would finish the pack. Here where i live it cost $5 to $9. More than food. I had a friend who would roll his own and the cost was 1/10 of what i pay. Since 2007 the tax is more the the pack. I think its like $3-$5 just for tax. I think it might be time to quit.

Seriously consider asking your Doctors about taking either Chantix or Wellbutrin, they actually curb /stop your cravings and will save you a sh*tload of money,I was smoking about 2 packs a week on average, and they are about 9 bucks a pack here,so lets do the math 18 bucks a week x 4= 72 dollars a month......72 dollars!!!!!! Thats a utility bill, and 2 Packs a week is not a lot actually, a pack a day smoker OMG the math would be 9 bucks x 7= 63.00 x 4 weeks = 252.00 a month,( a car note) you might save some by buying carton but still........I'm just saying

What i have been thinking about trying is the electric cigarette. It still lets you smoke, without the ash and associated mess. I think the smoke is water vapor, not sure if it has nicotine in it though
Yes it does have nicotine in it jakoman - a few puffs on that and your craving goes away. They are quite realistic too. Definitely worth a try if you are wanting to give it up.

I quit smoking twice.. 4 months and 3 months, took a nicotine gum once when I didnt smoke for a few days, right after I searched my whole house including the garbage can for smokes, so only started the nicotine craving up again.
Will try again soon, best thing to do imo is drink alot of water, it flushes the nicotine out of your system.. -

i got one for u. my friend is a taxi driver. He got a call from dispatch for a pick up. He went to the address and a girl came out she said to take her to the nearest store. This was about 2:00am. He drove to the nearest store which was a 7-11. she went into the store bought a pack a ciggs and came out and that all she got. well we all know 7-11 is not a good place to buy because of the price. Well lets just say that pack cost her $22. $8.50 for the pack and $14 for the ride with tip. what people would pay for that drug.

Y'all know about Jake, my "husband". Smoker. Now, I could stand the smell and mess, maybe, but the fact that he comes out here, knowing I only have a very limited and almost exhausted income, then bitches and throws fits if I don't finance his pack of smokes. The last two times he's been here, I've refused, and he's left. Before that, he'd take my bank card, or any cash on hand and come back with cigarettes, and drunk. He always starts out so sweet-oh, let me walk to town and buy you some groceries. Yeah, groceries. $10 of groceries for me, $20 of cigs and beer or vodka for him. That got old real quick. Thank goodness you can't buy either with the foodstamp card. He'll call me now from San Antonio, say he's working, has $30 only, but is coming out here. By the time he buys his bus ticket, smokes, and booze, he's got almost enough for the bus ride back to SA. The rest he bullies out of my silver dime collection. Cigarettes. At least when I used to smoke I paid for my own.
