Spelling tests don't come easily for my son.
This week an example of his words are:
it your
it's you're
there to
their too
they're two
Obviously I had to come up with sentences so he would know which spelling to use.
I didn't want him to memorize the order so, of course, I scrambled the order.
He completed the test and handed it to me to correct.
I looked at it and had NO idea of the order.
Duh! Had to start all over.

Gabby your writing skills are impeccable and would never consider you stupid at all!
I have to admit there are moments i have to think about some of these words when i am writing and often will use the wrong one. I am notorious for "there/their, your, you are" and have had to go back and modify posts cuz i have used "one" for "won".
I know better and attribute it to brain meltdown from lots of writing. Sometimes i can proofread what i have written ten times and read it right while it was written wrong.
One mistake i have not made yet that is my biggest pet peeve is using lose and loose in the wrong context. That is a huge common mistake that a lot of peeps make.

Oh my gosh! Boy that brings back some memories for me when I was spending a couple days with my granddaughter a couple years ago and she had homework that needed to be done. I looked at some of the material that 4th graders were learing and I felt like a complete idiot when trying to help her! It was more along the lines of my granddaughter educating ME. Loved your post gabby.

Oh i am so bad.. sometimes i can flow out the words like theres no tomorrow, perfectly grammared and described, but sometimes if i'm working hard or have alot on my mind i can't get it out of my head what i'm trying to say for the life of me,i become jumbled and incomprehendable.. WHY? But what i'm so bad about is.. i rely on the person who reads it to have the common sense, grammar and etiquette to understand what i'm trying to say instead of me stopping to correct it, but this type of formula has made me look stupid in so so many ways.. haha.. alot of people are peeved by improper grammar i have learned, but even those with the "properest" of grammar will make mistakes..

Imagin,
This is the perfect time to say what i have wanted to say for a very long time to you. You are absolutely right about grammar not being everything. And you are one of the greatest writers we have. Not for grammar, not for proper etiquette either, but what matters most.
You write from the soul and that my friend is irreplaceable. Your words have a way that touch people. You have a gift and it's worth more than it's weight in gold. You write with passion and i am always taken in with your posts.

Sweet words by all.
My biggest pet peeve? It don't matter.
I'm with you, imagin. It's the content that matters. I misspell words as do others, but I overlook them.
I have to admit, when I see someone write....tomarrow, I get an itch to correct them, not to be rude, but so they learn the correct spelling. -

When my daughter was really young, she would say Reraser instead of eraser. I thought it was kind of cute.
One day, she came home from school in the 5th grade and stated "It's ERASER". My reply was "I know". She asked why I never told her? She wasn't saying it wrong, she thought the correct word was reraser.

Some people really don't know when to use there or they're or your and you're.
I told my son"
they're - they are
you're - you are
Seems silly since all you're doing is dropping the a for a '. Same amt of typing.
