Such a sad day......:(

Tonight I attended the funeral of my daughters childhood friend.

Spike was only 20 when he was walking along the freeway, which is still a mystery, and was struck by a semi.

It was the saddest funeral, especially when everyone was filing out of the church a group of about 30 of his buddies went to the front of the church, huddled with arms around each other to pay tribute in front of the 80X10 photo and Spike's ashes.  Several boys kissed their 2 fingers and touched their fingers to the photo.

If anyone is religious at all..... a prayer for Spike would be appreciated.

My prayers are with you and yours Gabby.  This poem always comforted me when my mom passed, and I want to share it with you.


The Everlasting Light

Those we love must someday
pass beyond our present sight . . .
Must leave us and the world we know
without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle,
their lovely light will shine
to brighten up another place
more perfect . . . more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven,

Today for life on earth is past, but here it starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,

and since each day's the same way, there's no longing for the past.

I can't believe how hard this is hitting me.

The tears started as I read your posts and the floodgates opened when I read Debra's poem. I'm going to share that one with Spike's mom.

Thank You.....truly.  I've never met one of you in person but you all are a strength when someone needs a shoulder.  I'm very grateful.
