Tanning booth

Hi everyone,

While I was checking my email I read the news about a woman who was arrested  for allegedly putting her 5-year-old daughter in a tanning booth!

Do you believe what she said or do you think that police is right?

This woman even though she looks weird seems to be honest, but then again, I was never a good judge of character. What do you guys think?

I don't know if she is telling the truth or not.
But she saying that she likes a tan, wow, really, she looks like zwarte piet here in the netherlands..............



Anyway, it is never a good idea to let your children out in the sun too long, and if she did go to a tanning salon with here, then i would say: let the mother feel how it is, but she already did that.........

I saw the same on the news too and I think it's a bad idea.

If she thinks she looks good  she needs to be a superhero named leatherskin woman!!

I saw the pic of her and thought "I think the Tin man needs a wife"

I'm not entirely sure it matters whether or not she is telling the truth in terms of child endangerment laws.  My understanding of a tanning salon is that you get into the tanning bed and fully enclose yourself in it for a period of ten-fifteen minutes, so in my estimation, you still have child endangerment for leaving your kid in the tanning room unattended for that amount of time. 

The other problem is one of appearances.  There's no real way to absolutely prove that she put the child in the tanning bed, so that question would usually go to something called, "Preponderance of the evidence."  In this case, you have a mother who brought her child into the tanning room, and you have a child who is burnt and said she, "Went tanning," with her Mom.  Based on a preponderance of the evidence, I would suggest that the conclusion to which a reasonable mind would come is that she put her child in a tanning bed. 

Has she ever heard of spray tans?  That's what they do on Toddlers and Tiaras.  Another weird thing to do to small children.

It's hard to tell if someone is telling a lie or not when you don't know them.  She doesn't appear to be though. 

She should get someone to look after the child whilst she is in the salon though.  If you have to be a certain age to use them, then anyone under that age shouldn't be allowed in, in the first place.

I don't know how she even got to the tanning bed door with a 5 year old child. The law at least in the US says you must be 18 years old before you can step foot in one.

To expose a child that young to the ultra violet rays considering what damage the sun can do is plain nuts!

Wow she looks ridiculous. I doubt the little girl lied. Poor thing is being brainwashed to look like Mommy.
