The Conjuring - True Story........umm really?

Hiya Guys and Dolls,

Went to the movies last night to see The Conjuring after much coaxing since it was about demonic paranormal activity. I had my eyes closed in about 85% of the movie with palms sweating and heart racing!

Supposedly it was a true story that took place in the 70's that a husband and wife paranormal team investigated. So horrific were the ghostly activities that they never went public with it until now. It is hard to fathom such a thing really took place and terrorized this family.

This movie made Linda Blair in the Exorcist look like Mary Poppins. It is very hard to imagine that any of the events that took place could be true with chairs elevating, an evil spirit taking over the mother's body and crazy insane things that went on in this house.

Has anyone seen this movie yet and also do you believe demonic ghosts exist.

Wow lips i want to see that movie soooooo bad.As far as the question i really cant say but it does make you wonder if those things do exist.

I've not seen the film but it sounds pretty scary.  I don't know if demonic ghosts exist and I'lll keep an open mind on that one.

I haven't seen that movie yet, sounds interesting. I must admit I have stopped watching such movies a few years ago, I think I just had to much of them. I think that last one I saw was in 2010.

The story seems to be interesting, and hopefully not true though I really think that Japanese horror movies, of any kind, are the best. 

During the day I don't believe in ghosts, but when the night falls..... I'm not so sure.

The Conjuring was definitely disturbing. I am terrified of anything dealing with demons and possession yet I continue to watch. It's a tough call when it comes to believing in evil entities. If we believe that there are good souls around us are we crazy not to believe that there are malevolent ones?

I choose not to believe that such evil forces exist. Maybe it is to protect my sanity to think that something so heinous could control our lives and our world. I have been challenged several times on this subject and am told if i believe in angelic forces at work then there has to be evil ones as well..........that's when i get stumped on a solid reply to justify my claim!

I don't want to believe in evil either and I'm not sure if I do. Way too scary.

I checked out the film trailer on you tube - I don't how you managed to sit through it Lips (even with your hands in front of your face)...very very scary.

I'll probably DL it cuz the bf wants to see it - but I rarely enjoy scary movies because..well, I don't find them scary.
I'm the kind of guy when you jump out at him, goes 'ok, what?'...lol..I'm not terribly reactive (not ticklish either)

It reminds me of what my grandmother use to say......when night falls it takes on a whole new feeling and things seem much more scary than in the day light.

Yep.... under the moonlight, a floor lamp turns into a ghost of my landlord's grandmother, and she's not happy I moved in.

I saw the movie and loved it! I am a freak when it comes to scary movies. After watching I did soon research on it and they were a very interesting couple. I looked up the Annabelle story and that to me was super creepy!

Oh and Annabelle looked nothing like she did in the movie. She was a Raggedy Ann doll in real life but in the movie she was terrifying!
