    This could be the future of computer microprocessors.

    "A team of scientists have successfully bent light beams around objects on a two dimensional surface.

    Its the first ever demonstration of what is known as "airy beams", with light being bent around an object and then course-correcting itself to continue in a straight line on the other side. The technology could open the door to faster and cheaper light-based computer chips."

    I can't even imagine the need for faster microprocessors, unless it is used for scientific applications.

    I don't think we need faster processors for home computers or laptops but then again the whole idea of capitalism is to make people buy stuff they don't really need. So I guess we will have faster processors and many of us will rush to buy them smiley

              That has huge potential  (in theory)  for optical computers not based on silicon chips but it's probably a few years away.  As long as they don't put a chip in my head, I'm okay! laugh_out_loud

    It's scary, I read a survey where they asked under 30 y/o people if they would have a cell phone implanted somewhere in their body and the results were 65% yes.
    I have been trying to find it again.
