    Hiya Guys and Dolls,

    I need some advice from my roomies. My laptop is lagging and lagging like crazy when i try to open up a new page or go to a new site. I have tried everything. Besides running an anti virus daily i used CC Cleaner, uninstalled sites, used a free trial program for advanced uninstall and defragged.

    Sometimes it will lag for literally 5 minutes at a time or pages and sites won't load at all. It does seem to help if i reboot but eventually starts all over again. I thought i had to many windows open at one time and it would help to close them but it didn't.

    I tried changing from Google Chrome, IE and Fire Fox with still the same results of lag  sad. I have plenty of room left on my hard drive and my laptop is just over a year old.

    Nothing seems to work. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Not sure if anything else is out there.

    Have you rebooted your router.  I have AT&T service and often the router is the culprit of the lag.

    Try checking what progs are running (task manager) and how much memory they are using.

    also i see you use CCleaner .. do you defrag regularly too? Piriform the makers of CCleaner have a good defragger called Defraggler.  a nicely stacked hard drive's data keeps it running well too

    Having more than one antivirus program is not a good idea at all, these programs tend to conflict. But you are right about the free ones, I'm using Avast on my PC and Avira on my laptop, both free.

    You guys are awesome ty so much for your ideas.

    Tim - i think my defrag may be an automatic feature but not sure how often it is set up to run. I know i have not done it myself manually since i purchased the laptop until the other day.

    I did clear the cache this morning and did reboot the router. I will ck task mgr and ck out my memory cuz yes i do tend to burn the midnite oil.

    Katt i might try one of the new anti viruses out there.

    Today so far so good, knock on wood after the little adjustments i made.

    Having more than one antivirus program is not a good idea at all, these programs tend to conflict. But you are right about the free ones, I'm using Avast on my PC and Avira on my laptop, both free.


    Johnny is right about not running several... at one time though... don't have them all running in the background all the time or they will conflict, but when you are having problems, run some others individually then just use the one you trust most for monitoring all the time. Thanks Johnny, I did not make that clear!

    I have the same problem on my laptop. Someone in bingo chat told me to reload my pages in my browser. You know how you're sitting there playing bingo at like 10 diff sites and the main site page just sits there, unattended. It seems to help lots. But after I've been on it for quite some time, I have to restart my comp.

    Thanks eyesofgreen. i have been closing down browsers too and it does help a bit. Sometimes i will literally have open ten windows.
