They are blaming the victim!

I am not sure if I am being over sensitive about it but made me wonder just what kind of society we live in...

A 11 year old girl in Texas reported that she was raped by 19 boys/men who are age between 16 to 27 and people in town held a meeting with the girl and her parents are blaming her for it...my first reaction....Huh?

Why? because those who outrageously accusing the girl claims that she lied her age and she put herself in that predicament so basically she asked for this to happened...
The parents were also blamed due to failing to track of  their daughter ignoring the fact that her mother suffers from a brain growth and dad is on disability...

It is absolutely despicable in my opinion and I am stunned to see there are people who actually tried to justify wrong actions and blamed a victim...but what do you think?

Do you think somehow this girl should indeed be held accountable for it?

I have read about that and seen it covered, many times, on news programs.

It appears there is alot more to the story.  From my understanding, it allegedly happened, she returned, it happened again and so on and so on. 

The entire story is fishy to me. 

I don't think you are being over sensitive, this is disturbing. I can't believe someone can justify a rape...  and obviously sexism is lying under all that. "She was asking for it", "she was dressed as a...." etc.

Poor boys they will have to get treatment after that girl made them rape her...

I should add, IF the story is true, of course there is NEVER any excuse for rape.  I don't care if she claimed she was 29.  Dressed like a tramp, teased all night, started and then said... stop. 

Rape is rape.. nobody deserves it.

Rape is wrong.  There is nothing that a woman can do, dress in or look like that can say that she "asked for it".  No woman "asks" to be raped by how she looks.  

If the girl asked them to "do her" then it can't be classed as rape.

i agree, noone deserves to be raped..HOWEVER, and dont yell at me here, KNOWING there's bastard men out there, a little common sense on where you dress and how wouldnt hurt

I've been hearing this over and over again: "she asked for it, she dressed like this or that..." That's plain nonsense, a woman can be sexy and can flirt but that doesn't mean you have to think with something else rather than your brain. By the way, I can't believe that an 11-year old girl can look like an adult woman, so don't tell me that she lied about her age.

I am not sure exactly why but I have been following this news and it's really getting to me.
The fact that she was badly beaten and raped is slowly fading away and stirred up a whole new tension of racial issue.
I just can't understand any of this non sense...
Why can't these people focus on the issue as to how come 18 males, all capable of knowing right from wrong(I am hoping they do know...don't they?), would even rape an 11 year old girl instead of focusing on race?
Who cares about what race and how can someone with right mind defend such a heinous act against anyone let alone a 11 year old child?
This is one of many reasons why I stopped watching and reading news for a long time...for my mental sake.

It's because she is a Hispanic and all the accused boys & men are African American...
I don't know how people can come up with such an idea and leads this serious violent acts to something other than ill crime...
