  • When i was growing up we went on alot of family outtings.. and every time they were ALWAYS wacky.. something HAS to happen, here's one..

My family had family vistors from out of state, gramma, aunts, uncles, cousins the whole load, this year we'd go to Disneyland.. we pile in the car happy as can be, singing songs, laughin, joking all in the excitement of going.. we get there have a fantastic day into the night, alot of fun a memory to withhold in your mind forever.. until... we leave. Get out into the Disneyland Parking lot and guess what.. it's "wheres the car?" time. We lost the car, absolutely forget where it's parked. We searched and searched up and down had disneyland personell helping, other people there looking, we are exhausted from all the excitement, getting frustrated, they want to call police thinking its stolen. We even started losing each other... This went on for an hour or two, maybe longer.. looking for the car.. Then suddenly it's realized we didn't have our car, it was a rental and we were all searching for the wrong car. All along the car we came in was sitting right in our faces!!! Embarressing.. but how wacky... i remember this scenario more then the rides and events at Disneyland lol

Anyone else have any wacky family outtings?

  • Nice story Imagin.

You put me in mind of when we were kids.  My dear Mum didn't have much money when we were kids and during the summer holidays, we always went down the park which was about a 15 minute walk away.  There were swings and a miniature steam train and ice creams and plenty to keep us kids busy for the day.  We always took food and drink for the day.

I recall this particular day - my little sister was still in her pushchair and it was a really hot day.  On our way to the park down this really steep hill, I remember my Mum shouting something out loud - couldn't quite catch what she said though. I recall seeing all these hard boiled eggs rolling down the hill.  The bag of food and drink had tipped over and everything had fallen out.  As soon as we saw these eggs rolling, my brother, myself and two of our friends who were with us took off chasing these hard boiled eggs down the hill.  It was just such a funny sight to see these eggs rolling so fast and us 4 kids chasing them.  We were all laughing and screaming when we managed to get one.  The hill was so steep, we could hardly stop running and our legs were going faster than we could run...if that makes sense.

It still makes me chuckle to this day and the memory is so vivid.  We had a fantastic day.....as usual....except for the eggs.

  • Great stories gals... smiley smiley smiley

When I was just a little thing my Grandparents would pick us up.  "US" consisted of four little girls, ages 12-5,and my Mother.  We would all pile in the car to go to Cadillac to go shopping.  It was a good hour and a half drive and my grandmother and Mom kept us girls busy with games like counting red cars, or counting semis.

We were all packed into that car pretty tight.  I just remember what fun it was.  It was so exciting to go on a trip.

We would arrive and go out to lunch at McDonalds.  That was the first time I ever had McDonalds was on those trips.  wink

I dont remember any real "wacky" times, but I do remember my Grandfather wasn't much of a shopper so he would sit in the car and wait for all his "girls" to finish up.
He sat there happy as could be for hours at a time just reading a book and relaxing.

He always carried around a perscription bottle of cough medicene in his pocket.  I was way to young to know what the meamning of this was.  When asked what was in the bottle he would always reply "My perscription."  It was years later before I came to know that he filled that bottle with peppermint Scnapps every trip we ever took. laugh_out_loud

    His perscription was booze. hahaha

Guess spending the day with six women he needed a little snort now and then to keep his sanity.  Still makes me laugh.

  • Thank You so much Lips!!! I miss you and everyone so much as well!!! Woke up kinda late this morning, first thing i did was come here after yelling at my coffee maker to "make me some coffee" lol

Love the stories you know i do. I truely enjoy good memories and Blue i actually pictured you guys running down that hill so cute and funny, little legs just flying ahead of yourselves!!

Here's another one from my memory bank.

My mother had a fear of small cars so every car we owned was always big giant thingys, this one we had at this time was a gigantic lime green ford station wagon. I used to duck down and made my mother drop me off a block away from school.. or anywhere she took me, it's just one of those kinds of cars you just don't look cool in no matter what. But less be it to me everyone knew OUR car anyway...
My mother and i had gone on a shopping spree, spent a couple hours in.. K-Mart..lol...  embarrassed
We get all done check out and to the parking lot, find the car load it with all our stuff, get in and my mother puts the key in and it doesn't start. Making it short she becomes a little frantic and starts with, "what's wrong with this car".. as this was happening 2 big giant woman come running towards us.. "boom boom boom" sounds in slow motion is all i could see "call the police someone is stealing our car!!!!".. me and her staring out the front windshield with our jaws dropped open.. come to find out we got into the wrong car. Yes it could only happen to US that someone could have another gigantic ugly lime green ford station wagon and be at K-Mart at the same time as us... All ended well, and it was laughable but not to me.. i was terribly embarressed and mad. But i NEVER missed any chances to go shopping with my mother.. loved it.
