  • There is a woman in my neighborhood that walks her dog 500 times a day.......well ok i am exaggerating but a LOT!. Every time she does, she passes by my house and her dog decides to do his business in my yard. One day it was right in front of my gate so when you opened it there was a nice little surprise to jump over.

Do you think that people who walk dogs should try to be courteous and clean up after them or is it alright to leave these little mementos behind?  Should i approach her about this or leave it be?

  • Well I have seen that woman and even I wanna slap her. She knows you know it's her. She likes to tease poor Hazel with her mean old dog. Pfff tell her off! If your dog lays down steaming piles then you need to invest in a pooper scooper. If you can't manage to get one it's as simple as putting your hand inside a plastic bag and picking up the turds. C'mon  hysterical

  • OMG, not only do we clean up after our dogs in our own yard, which is huge, we also clean it up in the neighbors' yards when we see them do it.  I don't do this, 'cus I can't - lung disease; but my BFF/caregiver/dog nanny does it.

We have 2 large, 1 med/large, and 2 small dogs.  For the most part, they're contained in the fenced in yard on one side of the house, or on a zip tie on the other side of the house.  Still, they manage to get loose once in a while & zoom, to the neighbors' yards to poop!  laugh_out_loud

  • Lmao i know what you mean hun, my little dog bugs will squeeze out of our gate from time to time and do his business in another yard too. I don't know why they get such a kick out of it. I know males like to mark their territories when they tinkle but this is from the other end!

But to be so bold and brave and walk your dog and let them crap on your property and they know you are watching takes real nerve!

  • If this crass woman and her little nasty dog aren't a blind woman and a seeing eye dog she is breaking the law in Chicago...

So, if she ain't blind, she can be fined:

    Municipal Code of Chicago

    TITLE 7 HEALTH AND SAFETY

CHAPTER 7-12 ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL

    7-12-420  Removal of excrement.

No person shall appear with a pet upon the public ways or within public places or upon the property of another, absent that person's consent, without some means for the removal of excrement; nor shall any person fail to remove any excrement deposited by such pet. This section shall not apply to a blind person while walking his or her guide dog.

Any person found to have been in violation of this section shall be fined not less than $50.00 nor more than $500.00 for each offense.

    (Prior code § 98-19; Amend Coun. J. 5-14-97, p. 44296)

That would change her tune I think lips! I don't think it would take more than one or two $50 to $500 poopy piles for her to learn this lesson... laugh_out_loud

  • She should certainly pick it up - you can't leave em laying around over here.  You have to pick em up by law.

As she is breaking Chicago law maybe you should remind her of that.  I don't think I'd want to go for an early morning "slide" every time I walked out of my gate.

  • Hmm... yes, people should clean up after their pats and I see people do that here on streets and in parks. I think I would react about this; we all should love animals but that's poop so, it's not nice. smiley

  • People should clean up after their pets, it's plain and basic common sense. With that in mind, I'd tell you to tell her off.

Then again, if she lacks that basic common sense, you might just be wasting your words on her. Maybe a fine would do more to persuade her.
