The main reasons for unhappiness: low pay, irregular hours or the inability to move upward.

    Any thoughts?

  • I've always wanted to be a teacher no matter how much I would earn, I've never payed much attention to that. I gave up because I couldn't find a job there.
I think it depends on personal aspirations and goals. The most important thing is to enjoy what's you're doing and feel fulfillment because earnings stop having that affect at some point.

  • hmmmmm what a list,i thought my job would be numero ono laugh_out_loud wink

  • I noticed most of these relate to sales jobs where meeting quotas is extremely high pressured. For some of these people their jobs are on the line every day if they don't perform to standards required.

I would rather take a pay cut and be happy than deal with some of the pressures these employees have. Money is not everything and not worth the stress.

  • Most of those jobs come with good salaries so I'm surprised that people would be unhappy because of low pay. The teacher, nurse and even the security officer is rather low for all they do but overall they all make a pretty good buck. I could see being a security officer and being angry that I put my life on the line in some situations and get paid $29k for it. We're not all so lucky to do what we love...

I think most of those are high pressure jobs that require them to enforce rules, policies and procedures that they don't always agree with. The management positions have so many goals and quotas that not only they must meet but also their teams.

  • I agree with you folks - sales and marketing is very results oriented and must be highly stressful each and every day of the working week.

As for the security officer, that must be a lonely unsocialble life mainly working alone at night.  I would be miserable too.

  • I am in sales but its not a hard sell to sell hard liquor to businesses. I have a good customer base with a territory and solid leads. All depends on what you are selling and some of these cracker jack operations run sales people into the ground.

  • Sounds like a cool job you've got there liquorman. I get the name now smiley Do you get to sample your goods? wink
