  • The ban on credit card deposits comes in force on the 14th April, however Sky is phasing the deposit method out within the next few weeks. Im still a little confused about it all. I presume it will cover paypal too if its funded using credit card and you do a gambling transaction?

  • More information on this can be found at the UKGC official website here.

  • I believe this is an excellent move by any governing body as people should honestly not be using a credit card to gamble. In the grand scheme of things this a very positive move by any government to protect its people from negative financial problems.

This law has been in effect in Thailand where I live and I believe it is in effect in the USA, where I am from.

If you don't have the money to play you should not jeopardize your future and those you care about from an impulsive whimsical folly.

  • Many of us do not want to put main banking/debit cards in. is too easy to be wiped out by hackers with no way to claim back, i prefer paypal/skrill/or credit card, is much safer :/ sites like Sky, do not even allow paypal/skrill

I wholeheartedly agree and in addition, there are far too many other ways that are more secure. I haven't seen the option for US or European countries yet but in Asia, they have payment options using phone wallets. As an example, in Thailand, their biggest Telecom company known as True Corporation has an e-wallet known as TrueMoney or True Wallet. In fact, that is spreading throughout the region to other countries making payments for anything quick and easy. This certainly is preview of the future coming to a theatre near you very soon. If it hasn't already but I don't believe on this scale as of yet. China is the same way with their own provider, however.

Many of the locals here simply go to 7-11 outlets and load money into their phones. The company, for now, is doing everything transaction fee-free (for now). You can bet your cotton socks that will change. If you carefully read the terms and conditions in the small print they clearly "reserve the right to impose fees at any given time not greater than XXX".

Another notable development on this front is the fact they are now allowing foreigners to get one where initially you had to be a citizen of Thailand.

This convenience has made a negative impact on a significant portion of their younger society by gambling becoming a more prevalent problem. Online gaming and gambling as a whole are prohibited in Thailand but yet you see a great deal of online casino advertising everywhere online.

Quite profound the impact these things can have on the populous, it's certainly worth mentioning in this thread.
