  • huh... so like I did my taxes on Saturday right? So like I kid you not because I had assumed that the government wouldn't do anything for at least the full 8 days. I wasn't excited about looking at my prepaid visa card balance. Well low and behold I have now full my refund sitting on my prepaid visa card. Like there it was. Sitting there since yesterday. Talk about instant turn arounds. Even better than those 1 hours loans. WTG IRS.

  • Wow, Super Fast I R S that's what they are...lol Great that you got yours back so quick, cheetah. I haven't even started yet...I think I will owe them some money(hope not) but soon or later I should. I will let you know how fast they will want their money if I do owe them any...ha ha! Don't spend all at once!!! tongue

  • I did the DD thing last year, was superfast. I'll do the same this yes, got a bundle coming abck. The funny thing was, I was on UI most of the year and so they sent me the 1099 form...Well, I LOST the original and let them know, I'll get a replacement in a few days.

    I was so embaressed!

  • Hey That is great, we did our taxes, and as usual we had to pay in more than some people make a year, we sent the check and with in a week it was cashed. High five to the IRS for being so quick in making my bank balance go down so fast lol.

Sometimes I wonder why anyone tries to be successful in this country because the more you make the more the IRS takes. I guess that is the price for wanting a good life.

  • I think many in the US population don't realize just how much employers or "Highly Paid" people get hit with taxes.

I remember reading the book "Iacocca" in which he's talking to the Ford Board about expenses and he said "For every $20 we make (Get paid) we get $2" and I was shocked and so did some reading and yes those who make the most, get nailed with the most in taxes.

Such is the price, but dang 90% of your wages gone? Wow...Sure, what with bonuses and stock options they do well, but still ouch!

  • You know Geneco, I get really angry at the IRS because, although I don't begrude anyone their money, but I know of alot people who get back more then they pay in taxes. To me that just isn't right. When I retired I thought we would atleast break even because I don't collect any type of retirement yet since I am only 40. But I worked hard and put my 21 years in the same place, put money away so we could ensure a good life, but we still pay the IRS at tax time. I am not talking about a few thousand dollars here I am talking about alot more. Between school and land taxes and income taxes we pay almost 33% of our income to taxes. And you know what, here in good  old NY State we now have a tax for being over weight! Not a joke. If you don't buy diet soda you are paying an extra .10 cents a bottle no mater the size. And to top that all off, they just imposed another dollar tax on smokes. Here in NY we pay 4 dollars in tax now on smoke which brings the price of a pack smokes to over 8 dollars.

Then the government wants to know why so many people are leaving NY state. I will be honest, my hubby and I are looking to move out state also because I can't stand the taxes here. Our families are begging us to stay but if my hubby can transfer to another state with his job we are gone.

I hear you about that. My younger sister worked with Citibank for 10 years, making $75K a year. I was impressed, till she told me what her net was. I was stunned, hell, after taxes here, I made more then her and I only made $12 an hour!!

That's a killer city for sure! (But she got some great high class education though)
