  • Danvers police got a call from a mother of two saying that they are trapped at the Connors Farm in Danvers, which is a corn-maze located just a short distance from Salem.

    Here's the conversation:

Woman: "Hi, I just called. I'm still stuck at Connors Farms. I don't see anybody. I am really scared. It's really dark and we've got a 3-week-old baby with us."
Dispatcher: "Just relax. Calm down. Your husband is with you right?"
    Woman: "Yes, but my baby?"
Dispatcher: "OK. I understand and the police officer is on the way."
Woman: "We thought this would be fun. Instead it's a nightmare. I don't know what made us do this. It was daytime when we came in. And I never take my daughter out. This is the first time. Never again."

The maze, in the shape of a headless horseman with the words "Salem Village" and "Danvers, Ma." carved out, was designed to make tourists take up to an hour to navigate.

The police came to the scene and located the family within a minute. It was easy because they were just 25 feet from the exit. smiley

  • So the first time they took their baby daughter out, they decided to hit the maze? Wonder what social service will have to say about that!

  • The old saying "there's none so queer as folk" came to mind.

  • I don't understand how you think that would be fun for a baby? I mean it's the first time you take her out and it's something that she can't even look like animals at a zoo or something. What a poor choice!

  • :D 25 feet from the exit! That's funny.

  • Being a parent, I really find the story disturbing, and I feel sorry for the baby girl...

  • Here's another one: a Florida woman was arrested after calling 911 and asking officers to "come out and scare the sh*t out of my kids." smiley

Melissa Townsend, from Brevard County, called 911 and explained that her kids, ages 1 and 3, were "not listening to me and they need to learn respect and they need to learn people in law enforcement and otherwise are to have authority. They need to learn that lesson."

The dispatcher replied: "We don't come out and scare kids." Police did respond to the call though but they say that the 27-year-old mother was drunk and kicked an officer in the crotch several times.

She was arrested and charged with child neglect, battery on an officer, resisting an officer without violence, and three counts of probation violation.

  • That's great thinking -Let's have kids and then find someone else to raise them.

  • OMG that's ridiculous! 27 years old? How old could her kids be? Hardly old enough for police right? What a train wreck.

  • What an idiot, it was a blessing that age was that retarded to make that call. Hopefully her kids will be taken care of.

  • How old could her kids be?

    Kids were 1 and 3.
  • I really have no comment on this one... One thing is certain, she does not deserve to have kids...

  • Here's one for the history books:

A customer called 911 to complain that his sandwich order was not to his satisfaction. Rother McLennon is his name and he's from Connecticut. Here's how the call went:

McLennon: "I specifically asked for little turkey, and little ham, a lot of cheese and a lot of mayonnaise and they are giving me a hard time."
Dispatcher: "You're calling 911 because you don't like the way that they're making your sandwich." McLennon said yes and the operator told him not to buy it.
Then McLennon said: "I mean, I just want to solve this the right way… They are playing games with me, so I was just wondering if you could come by."
The dispatcher again advised him not to pay for it, and the caller replied: "I'll look at it before I buy it."

Tila Azinheira, the owner of the respective deli, claims that McLennon had ordered 14 sandwiches over the phone but refused to pay after seeing them.

Apparently they patched things up somehow and Mr. McLennon is enjoying his sandwiches again smiley

  • oh wow.... now that's a tough life. Luckily, he can buy sandwiches there again, I'm really happy for him,

  • It is strange they didn't arrest the guy, I think that it is illegal to call over stuff like that....

  • That's ridiculous. If I was the dispatcher, I would have thought that it was a joke.

  • What a retard, I can't believe that dispatcher remained so calm. Like they don't have more important real life calls to handle.
