    Ok i heard this song Wave On Wave and i really got caught up in the lyrics. What exactly does "Wave on Wave" mean? I asked several people and got many different interesting interpretations.

    I love this song and lyrics to songs are so important. Yet i am not quite sure what they mean in this song.

      I agree that this song is on the surface just about a guy who'd metaphorically "lost his way," and was "saved" by meeting (perhaps rediscovering) his love. It is interesting to note that if you just replace the "she" in "that's when she found me" with "He," the song takes on a interestingly well-match biblical/religeous connotation, as many describe finding their faith as having it come upon them like "waves."

              I don't think I 've ever heard this Lips;  but the "wave on wave" sounds like a metaphor for the realization that the one he is/was searching for has been there the whole time.  I agree with gabby, I think this probably has religious connotations.

    Thanks for your interpretations. Here are the two that i heard.......

    One - He makes reference that he is drowning. She is the wave that pushes up through the water and basically saves him when he says "and i'm the one you were sent to save".

    Two - He comes to the realization she is the "one" like waves that keep crashing in. Wave after wave, some are large, some small but it is a constant nudge.

    I may me something different to everyone, but one thing for sure it is a powerful phrase.
