What exactly is LUCK??

LUCK   

NOUN:

1.) The chance happening of fortunate or adverse events; fortune: They met one day out of pure luck.
2.) Good fortune or prosperity; success: We wish you luck.
3.) One's personal fate or lot: It was just my luck to win a trip I couldn't take


What is luck?? We all know the definiton, but doesnt it seem some of us just possess more than others?  My brother in law for example.  He won a car at the casino after only depositing $2.00.  He started a business and it was successful from the start and he sold it for an enormous amount of money.  Everytime he hunts for deer he brings home a TROPHY  buck and gets his picture in books. He does well in the stock market even in these unstable times. I could go on and on about his lucky life, but I know you get my meaning. The luck is just unmistakable. Things just work out for people like this.  Don't we all feel we have met someone like this in life? Everything goes their way while the rest of us struggle to make things work out? We don't possess that "LUCK"  they seem to have. Is it Devine intervention? Are there such things as Luck Gods smiling on only a certain few of us?        Do you know anyone like my brother in law??  Doesn't it just make you shake your head at times at their good fortune? It can be simple things or big things, they are just luckier than the rest of us.  What is Luck anyways huh?? :-\

Hi PMM,

I equate luck to karma. If it is meant to be and written in the stars then it will happen. Some of us our less fortunate. But it does not make us less a person...quite the contrary i believe. With struggle and misfortune comes wisdom and compassion. I have known people who have had horse shoes up their @&*! And in their life they have not met what struggle can be and in alot of cases they lack compassion for those who are not as fortunate.

Luck comes in many forms. It's not always material value. You can't put a price tag on health or being blessed with a family.

I sure would not mind alittle luck now and again. I think i've learned all i can on being unlucky!!!

Luck is simply ramdon chance falling your way.  We often hear stories of people who bet their kid's birthdate and won BIG.  But, we don't hear the stories of the 1000s of people who bet their kid's birthdate and LOST.  Same thing applying to "lucky" numbers.  Now, having said that.....remember I am the guy who bets the hymn numbers from church service the Sunday before I go! lol  Oddly, this has worked well!  I keep making sure Mr. Jesus gets a 10% cut.

I think we all believe in something...it's what keeps us sane and keeps us in check to be better peeps. Everyone in life has a certain code of ethics...what drives those ethics is our belief system. There is nothing wrong then relying on the man upstairs...for me its the only answer

To tell you the truth, though this is not a proven fact...i think that it depends on your outlook when you set out to gamble. If you really believe you are doomed than it happens.

But if you walk in pumped up with a positive attitude of winning, then it  happens. I have a friend who is always doom and gloom at the casino. I tell her all the time..you will never win because you are doomed before you even start! And ya know what.....she never wins.

Attitude is everything in life. I cant say I have not been doom and gloom at times at the casino. You start to get down in your bankroll, and the negativity just creeps in. At that point it is silly to continue because you are not even having fun anymore. Which is what it should be first and foremost.  I dont know how it is true, but you are right, the better my attitude, the better I do. How does that work.  Dont know, it just does.

I do agree if you are on a losing streak that definately will bring u down to doom and gloom. I say though when starting out your day...be positive! I read the book "Secrets" there is a lot to be said about this philosphy.
