I have Roxie, who is my Lab Mix
I have Cleo, who is a Shitzu pup
I have Bella, who is my pure white Cat
and I have Rebel, who is a tiger cat, and his name says it all.
I live in a small house, so there is no more room for any more pets.
To bad, as I would have many more. I love animals. -

One parrot (crimson rosella) called "blue" (he must be 20 now)
One cute little budgie called "the Nutter" - purely and simply cos he is one! He must be about 15.
I did have two other budgies but they died - one was called Tommy and the other was called "Lady".
All these birds were rescued from people who no longer wanted them or treated them badly. -

Blue...Bless your heart for saving those birds. I read your post and I must be emotional today as it made me smile, yet tear up. Oh why can't all people be so loving to animals. Don't they know how precious they are, and what an animal has to offer us each day?
A quick story...I had a parakeet once. I swear that little guy knew when I was on the phone. He'de be quiet all day, and when I would answer that phone he would start his chirping, and pretty soon it would go to screeching. Happily of course, and I couldn't even hear the person on the other end of the line half the time. I'd hang up, and he'de be quiet again.
Do you have any idea why he did that?

Awwww Pam, bless you.
I don't know why they do that but each time I am on the phone, my Blue goes mental too. I guess its the sound and tones of our voice is all I can think of. He doesn't talk at all but he does do the sound of the phone ringing (well to a degree). He also does a cute whistle and he makes a little "peeping" sound when he's eating something he really likes.
The nutter and "lady" came as a pair and the guy just didn't want them anymore.
Little Tommy was 3 when I got him - his owner had him and just didn't like him. But he talked a lot and he loved sitting on my finger and my shoulder.
And dear sweet Blue - was beaten up by his owner whilst he was in his cage. He has a huge fear of hands which makes it difficult to handle him. I don't know what the guy used to do to him but he was a nervous wreck and a mess when I got him.
I think I told the story of blue before but for those that do not know, his owner was a very mean man and his 10 year old daughter had a pet rabbit and one day when she came home from school, he had killed, cooked and made her eat her pet rabbit. This was quite a few years ago and the daughter is the one that told me about the rabbit and the plight of blue.
Enough said I guess.

Fun question! I have SOOOO many pets, even most of my cows have names! But...I do raise my cows for beef so technically they aren't pets even though they are treated as such. Please don't shout at me if you are a vegan :'(
Rescue dog from local shelter, German Shephard named Kaen (pronounced Cane), two Yorkies, Maggie & Bailey, 4 parrots (2 Hyacinth Macaws, Goliath & Gia and 2 Umbrella Cockatoos, Kona and Nikki), barn cats...Boots, Toes, BJ, TJ, Willy and some of my cows have names such as Daisy, Bob, BB, Frannie, Punkin, Angie, Curly and Rosie...other cows we just call "mama cow"! Oh, and my quarterhorse...his name is Handy. I have 9 chickens too but they don't have names....just call them "mrs" or "missy" and the rooster is "Mr". ;D -

gosh Blue....what a sad story. I was quite heavily involved in parrot rescue/foster back in '99 - 2001. Saw some pretty horrible situations with the conditions parrots were living in and the abuse & neglect they often endured. Parrots are highly intelligent creatures and will often turn on themselves in the form of feather destructive behavior, and often mutilation of their flesh, as their way of coping with the abuse/neglect. I have ZERO tolerance for animal abuse/neglect these days. I became so burned out after a few years of my involvement that I had to step away for awhile. Now I just help folks as much as I can by education on how to properly care for parrots and if they do need to rehome a bird, I do my best to help them find a suitable family. So nice to see other parrot-folks here -

I have to commend anyone rescues abused animals. I have to admit i can't handle it. I see the commercials on animals being abused and i have to turn away. I see shows on animal rescue where an animal is so badly abused and i have to turn away.
Thank God their are people out there stronger than me. I get so shook up i just can't deal with it. I really wish i could. My love for animals is greater sometimes than i think for people!!
Now stray animals i will rescue any day or if i know an animal is being abused i will report it. But to see and visualize the abuse......i fall apart.
For all you that do rescue pets that are severally abused............your angels.

I have a Cat named Dog.. and a Dog named Cat..
And yes.. the cat thinks it's a dog, and the dog acts like a cat..
The cat is a long hair tabby, and the dog is a minature poodle (her real name is Estaya)
My kitty plays fetch and actually brings it back wanting you to throw it again, also has quick meow but it sounds like a bark.. lmao
My doggy plays with the cat toys and bats the peacock feathers on the stick and has a whiny type bark like a meow.. lmaoooo -

I can tell you that seeing the abuse is often better than the aftermath, I was a groomer for 11 years and not all who take their pets to the groomer are good. The local vet sent a Spitz to us because he was so overwhelmed. The poor lil critter was suffering from Tick Paralisis for those of you who do not know it is caused by 1(ONE) single male tick...pull the tick the pooch will be right as rain in 5min. give or take. This guy had - I stopped counting after 145, 150 and I pulled ticks of him for a better part of my work day..Finally about 6 hours after he arrived at our shop he was in the tub standing. Well back to my point I could much easily see someone hit a dog then have it in my lap lookin in my eyes with his..and seeing the suffer. I wanted to be a vet, but the uthenizeing part I didnt think I could bring myself to do. I found the next best thing...a better title, because a VET sent him to us. As a groomer I saw alot of things done to animals that I didnt actually see, those people paid a large grooming bill had a visit from the ASPCA and either spent time in jail(not enough) or was hit with a fine(still not enough)
