  • We see no-deposit bonuses advertised everywhere, but I’m curious how realistic they actually are.

  • Hiya Guys and Dolls,

Technology is always changing and computers and the internet are forever advancing. I remember when i first bought a wireless mouse. I thought that was the greatest invention ever.

Then i was talked into a buying a laptop for the first time i was very hesitant. I remember thinking i will never get use to a laptop and will always prefer a desk top. How wrong i was! I can't even imagine being nailed to a desktop now.

How about the monstrous monitors and modems we once had!! My first computer i had was a screen that was 20". I couldn't even pick it up!

But what will the future bring for us? I did some research and found some interesting changes we are in for.

    Desktops will be obsolete.
Keyboards will be obsolete, being replaced by voice activation.
Internet will be viewed in 3D
Phones like the iPhone will be a main source of connecting to the internet.
Laptops will get smaller and virtually fit in the palm of your hand.
Government will have total control and regulations on internet.

How do you feel about these changes or have you struggled with changes already?

I know i don't like Big Brother watching us. But of course it was a matter of time.

  • I'm one who does think technology can go to far.  I still prefer my desktop over my notebook.  Isn't it now a 'notebook' instead of a 'laptop'?

I remember eons ago... I did NOT want windows.  I liked my DOS. smiley

    I don't tweet or facebook.

I don't like the idea of the government having so much knowledge of what I do and when, the thought is unnerving.

I shudder to think what would happen if I was falsey accused of a crime.  I love true crime books, watch murder and mayhem most of the day... and oh yes... they could see I belong to an online gambling forum. Hmmmmmmmm

I don't always turn on my cell phone.  Rarely check messages, don't use internet on it.  Same for my emails.... friends know if they REALLY need me.... CALL!!

I saw Willam H Macy interviewed and he said his family was not technological.  His wife, Lynette (from Desperate Housewives) checked her emails and there were 80.  What did she do?  Pressed the 'delete all' button and guess what happened????  Nothing!  Food for thought there.

    Interesting topic, Lips.

  • Well...some these answers are obvious:  Faster, larger, etc.

But, there are some large issues looming about the future of the internet:
    1.  Privacy.  Who gets to see what?  Store what?  And who decides this?
    2.  Regulation of content.  What gets put ON the net?  Who decides?
    3.  Cyber terrorism.  Could a rouge nation or group bring it all down to a stand still?

I think these unanswered questions will be more interesting to see develop than the technical side of the internet.

  • I think in the future everything may require a line of credit to see what is free now.
Like for instance, (if Zuga wanted) he could require users to pre-authorize a credit card (or some form of payment, like say up to $10-which would be the usual browser's fee and charge 0.05 per viewed page/ or $0.10 for every 10 minutes of viewing.  Then when the user exited the forum/website, he/she would get a refund of the unused portion of the $10.---Unless you were a good friend of Zuga (then maybe it would be still free.)

Also, imo it may be required to post your government id upon entering websites. (Like your Driver's license number)
