    Hiya Guys and Dolls,

    There is a theory that depending where you fall in birth order shapes your personality. Below is an example of ranking order and the profile:

    Only child – This child is always the center of attention and usually prefers it that way. Since they are never "dethroned", they are spoiled and can be self-centered. They miss out on the social skills learned by sibling interaction, so they may find it difficult to share or compromise. A great positive trait is that they can be very mature intellectually.

    First Born – They are often given responsibility for younger siblings and may take on the role of a surrogate parent. Through this role they accept their position of leadership and the power that comes with it. Firstborns may become overachievers in order to set the example for younger siblings and meet the expectations of parents. They are also known to be authoritarian (or bossy according to their siblings). A great positive trait is that they can be very responsible and helpful.

    Second Born – Independent and competitive, especially with the oldest sibling. Sibling rivalry may be initiated by second born as they struggle to identify their role in the family. Can be seen as a rebel, especially if they do not feel they are getting equal treatment with that of the first born. A great positive trait is that they can be very expressive and creative.

    Middle Child – Independent but unlike second born, can be more congenial. They do not have the spotlight but often do not seek it (what’s the use?). They can be resigned in their position in the family even though they feel forgotten. The middle child syndrome can develop, especially in larger families. A great positive trait is that they can adapt and acquire very good social skills.

    Last Born – Frequently spoiled by the entire family. Never “dethroned” and may be accustomed to always getting their way. They may be seen as irresponsible and a rule breaker. A great positive trait is that they can be very charming and adventurous.

    I'm a middle child and although I am expressive, I don't feel creative.  That actually is a trait of my older brother and younger sister.  

    I have 3 kids of my own and I think the oldest fits the mold better than the other 2.

    I didn't read your post right, Lips.  I read the 2nd child as the middle child.

    Nevermind what I wrote. Yup... It seems to fit my kids and myself and siblings.

    Good topic lips! I am and always have been a classic middle child... the description fits pretty well... I have first born older brother, then 2nd born older sister, then me (oops a girl out of order, my first mistake!), then a younger brother and last a younger sister... Mom told me that the other 4 put together never gave her 1/10th of the trouble I did... >:D angel

    I am a first born and the only child that was until when I was 17, my brother came along...
    And yes...I have been a strict and super bossy sister... embarrassed

    I am the oldest but I was neither responsible nor helpful. Roles were definitely reversed in my house. I was the big baby.

    I am the baby in my family. But i never felt like i got away with murder as a result. My mom is sharp as a tack and rarely missed a thing. But i was a bit of a rebel and didn't like to follow rules. An i can be very irresponsible!

    I think what's interesting too - are boys and girls treated differently by their parents. I think there can be a huge difference. I never had any brothers so i can 't speak from a personal level but i have heard lots of comments about it.

              I guess technically I'm in the middle.  I have two older and one younger sisters, no brothers.    So... I suppose I'm the most well adjusted.
    LMAO.    Even now that we're  much older, it's funny the 4 of us can only be  in the same room for a short amount of time  before a lot of drama happens laugh_out_loud.
