Why?

I just saw the Maury show where a young mother had been cheating on the father of their baby at the beginning of the relationship (which coincided with when she got pregnant). The father was a kind hearted man who clearly loved this woman and the baby.  To see him burst into tears when the secret was revealed to him that the child may not be his, was heartbreaking.

I want to know why people go on chat shows such as Maury or Jerry Springer to reveal secrets such as this.  I just don't understand why they would want to go on international TV to find out.

Is there anything that you often think "why" and don't know the answer?

Isn't he just - he is the best.  He really doesn't let them get away with anything.  I love watching him - he so owns that show.

I have never once believe any of these people in the shows to be true but if somehow what they claim to be are real then I have to assume that they are the people who have so little self esteem and seeking desperately for the attentions from strangers because no one who they know would give to them.

The people get like $500 and a trip to the big city, and it's a social phenomenon that they use like a trophy- I was on Springer!  I found my baby daddy!  hoo!

So basically Chilly, its for a bit of cash and a day trip out.  No wonder some of them are laughing.

I suspect that people are getting paid to do such things on TV, no human being with a healthy brain would do such a thing for free. Those might even be staged, I'm not sure but some do look like being staged.

I can see someone going on Dr. Phil for help.  He follows through and doesn't just do an hour show and send them on their way to deal with the fallout.

I don't watch Jerry Springer or Maury.  I think most go on for '15 minutes' of fame...or TV time.  I wonder how many stories are made up. Really... Who's my baby daddy? with the same person on with potential daddy #16.

I'm willing if you guys are (no kidding!).  You call, I'll go.  Just let me know what I did to y'all.  Steal your toilet paper?  Hide your free chips?  Tried to steal your partner while you were playing bingo?  We could make the rounds of several shows, then head to AC to spend our earnings!

Blueday.  I really admire your big heart.  I really do.  But keep in mind, this was the MAURY SHOW!!!  One of two things is always at play on these type shows.

1.  These are people are toxic to the core and attract toxic to the core people.  Seriously, think about.  What sort of person goes on TV to air this junk?

2.  As Chilly said, these are people hyped up on the free trip to L.A., a couple of nights away from the trailer court, and put up on a 4 star hotel with meals.  They'll say, ad-lib, act out, etc. at merely the suggestion of it.

I guess you're right Doc.  Amazes me what people will do for a bit of cash.

even rednecks deserve recreation, especially if it's free and involves well, you know...stuff like you see on Jerry Springer.  But I'm pretty sure these are in Connecticut, not LA.
