Word of the year 2012

"Omnishambles" has been named word of the year by the Oxford English Dictionary.

The word means a situation which is shambolic from every possible angle.

Other words included "Eurogeddon" - the threatened financial collapse in the eurozone - and "mummy porn" - a genre inspired by the 50 Shades books.

"Green-on-blue" - military attacks by forces regarded as neutral, such as when members of the Afghan army or police attack foreign troops - was also on the shortlist.

The London Olympics also generated a few contenders including the verb "to medal", "Games Maker" - the name given to thousands of Olympic volunteers - and distance runner Mo Farah's victory celebration "the Mobot".

According To Oxford American Dictionaries the Word Of The Year 2012 is 'GIF'.

I'm going to admit it, my word of the year was wrongly spelled word "cool" - "kool". It's been my favorite word for a few years now. 

My word of the year has to be "feisty".  My new sister in law uses this all the time and I just love to hear her say it with her.

Yeah.  "Selfie" is very "Essex" imho.

I have to say my word of the year is "wow". I say "oh wow " constantly,  I even start a lot of my posts with wow. It's like an addiction! 

Wow fried-eggs so do I. I have never ever used the word selfie and aside from this moment will never use it again! Seriously,  that's in the dictionary along with twerk? Wow!

Swaffelen must be the Dutch word of the year, but am not gonna explain what it means.......hahahaha

I just read a little more of the description on wiki....

"When the act is practiced on a person, it is often the person's cheek that is hit."

Well, I guess that "turn the other cheek" doesn't really apply for that
