World's Oldest Person

According to Guinness World Records, the oldest living person was Misao Okawa, from Japan, who is 115. But now they found somebody older than that: Johanna Mazibuko, from South Africa, is 119 years old!



Ms Mazibuko was born in 1894, according to her identity papers, and has outlived five of her seven children. She lives with one of her sons, a 77-year old youngster

"God gave my life in abundance, plus a bonus. I am very old now," she says. "She is able to move on her own but cannot stand for a long time. She gets dizzy," her son added.

The oldest person recorded in history was Jeanne Calment from France who died 4 August 1997 aged 122.

I'd surely love to reach 100 but only if I'd be able to ride my bicycle at that age, life isn't that nice without the bike

That's an amazing age to live to...and still going strong by the looks of her.

It's hard for me to imagine.... 119 years!! She does look good considering her age. But I think it's too much. I wouldn't like to live that long.

It really makes me happy to see the stories about old people, specially like this, but also makes me wonder what kind of life do they have, not being able to take care of themselves, usually having all kinds of  health problems. I am not sure I would like to get that old...

When you start outliving your children it's time to go. There's no way I want to live long enough for that to happen.

I could not imagine living that long, seeing everyone around you go. It would be rough.

Makes me think of the movie Green Mile when Tom Hanks was blessed and cursed at the same time by living a very long life. He remarked he didn't like it because he had to watch everyone around him die. Not to mention quality of life would have to be diminished.

I have a neighbor who is 94 years old and has buried one of her sons. Every time someone she knows passes away she cries and says why am i still here and those much younger die.

I think i would prefer to stay within life expectancy stats.
