Hiya Guys and Dolls,
It always seemed like it was raining and very cold very Halloween when i was a kid. I remember always going with my big sister. All bundled up against the cold and you could never see our costumes!.
We had walked for blocks and our bag of Halloween treats were always brimming! I could hardly wait to get home and gobble them down. My mom always had a sweet tooth i guess that is where i got mine from.
Every year she would have to go through our bags to make sure all the candy was safe. What would amaze me is the candy she would be suspicious about was all the good candies! One by one she would pluck out some of the best candies in the bag.
Then as me and my sister would rifle through the bag of candy we had left mom would be unwrapping the "suspicious" candy and eating them! She would say "well that candy was alright after all"!
I guess the trick was on us with the treats!! As i got older her little method of "checking" the bag no longer worked!
Do you have any Halloween fun memories growing up?

My mother glued cotton balls to a tubular piece of cardboard. She spray painted them blue, popped it on my head and called me Marge Simpson.
You could always tell which candy for the trick or treaters and which was for her. The junky hard candy and tootsie rolls were for the kids. Snickers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and M&M wrappers were scattered all around mom. -

The State Fair of Texas was open on Halloween and every little kid was invited to the Haunted House where in the center of it was all the candy a child could want. Getting to the center was the tricky part, because there were lots of fake booby traps and scary monsters that chased you away from the center. (Of course the goblins were State Fair staff). I never got the candy, as many times as I tried year after year, because there was this gaping hole in the floor or runnung past the goblins (who were faster than me!). Still creeped out by those events.

In Cali growing up the weather was always nice, one year it rained on halloween, so they broadcasted on the news that halloween trick-or- treating would be the next day, that was kind of nice, still alot of people did it in the rain so that year we got 2 halloween nights lol..
my mom always made our costumes, black cat, ol' lady, bums, ghosts.. our bags were always pillowcases she decorated with shoulder straps (lmao) and those were our savers, we'd come home with loads of candies and a little halloween bag would not of held it all.. my most favorite candies were peanut M&M's (i'd take a couple of extra trips back to the house that gave those out) and the least favorite was hard ol' popcorn balls (who eats popcorn balls from strangers houses?). Our candy lasted for months we'd each have our hiding place, finally getting tired of it and find the bags 6 months later, to us the candy was "still good", but mom's was like "throw it away".. but mom it's CANDY!
my favorite memories of halloween are with my own daughter, i also made all her costumes, i made a lady bug costume once for her, she was the cutest little bug, she'd squat a little and flap her wings as if she was gonna take off in flight, i took her to a few parties that year, she won the costume contests (seriously it was a really nice costume i made). Took her treat-or-treating along with alot of cousins, nephews and nieces, she'd knock on the door "trick or treat" and the people would comment.. "oooh you are so cute, heres a few extra for you" it got so bad the other kids were running up to me saying " gaaaallllll why do they always give her 5 candies and we get one", i had one niece that kept her eye on the candy they would place in her bag, if she didn't like it she would take it out her bag and hand it back the the people and say "i don't like this kind" some would say "oh okay well what kind you like" and let her have her choice.. (i guess rather then her waste it she gave it back, but what a little stinker she was lolol) My daughters bag would get so full she had to drag it along. Halloween was a great time for me, i really enjoyed taking all those kids, and did i ever get loaded up with candy, i was the official candy checker
I was seriously thinking about patenting the "over the shoulder strap halloween bags".. what you guys think? -

Well, I remember this quite well.
Time was 1969. I was alone..Hitting houses by myself (Hey it WAS safer then) and I hit this one house that sat at the apex of a cul-de-sac. I marched up there, rang that bell and waited.....
The door opened slowly...I saw nothing...Suddenly, I heard footsteps...I started to shake...Then who should appear but FRANKENSTEIN!!!!
As I stood there, paralyzed with fear he reached down, gave me one of those honking big Baby Ruth's, smiled and then backed up and closed the door....
4 days later I met some of the neighborhood kids at school and we compared who saw what. Believe it or not, I and one other neighbor kid had stayed long enough to get candy from Frankenstein. Every other kid had taken one look and booked for the hills. -

I love these stories. I will just say that this Halloween was my absolute favorite, it was the first time I took my kids trick or treating, ages 5 and 3, and they had so much fun. We started out about 5:30 because they are little, and I didn't want them to get scared in the dark. By the time it was dark out in 45 minutes, they were pros and having the time of their lives. We live in a good area, and I chose the neighborhoods right by the elementary school, almost every house on every block was outside with candy. We took 2 breaks back home for bathroom and dinner, and they kept wanting to go out for more. Seriously, I think this was the best Halloween for me. Now the problem is my 3 year old wants all the candy herself lol

U know what really sux? Getting arrested while dressed up in your Halloween Costume. Yep, it happened 2 me once. I was driving home at about 2:30a.m. after one of my many nights working at Night Trips & of course, DRUNK AS HELL........AGAIN!!! I was so VERY stupid & naive back then.
Anyways, long story short, I got pulled over & ended up having 2 go 2 the pokey in my costume. And sitting in the booking area is soooooooo uncomfortable when you are dressed like a stripper/vampire. -

I happened to be sick most Halloweens as a kid. The flu always seemed to hit on that day and only that day. :'(
My youngest, 9, went with a couple buddies. His sister took them, how sweet. The house across the street left a HUGE box of full size candy bars. One of his buddies took 49, yep, 49 full size candy bars. My son was wearing his *cough* halo and only took 7. :-\
I don't like chocolate... or seafood, or ice cream or candy for that matter. I'm kinda odd that way.... I ate one of my kids mini tootsie rolls.
